I'm really looking forward to this. The Rocketeer was one of the first characters that expanded my comic reading experience beyond the Big 2, and has always remained a huge favorite of mine. I still remember running across a copy of Pacific Presents and being blown away not only by the Rocketeer, but also by the inclusion of Doc Savage's team (albeit not by name). I couldn't believe how beautiful the artwork was -- how accessible the story -- and how wonderful it all was as a whole. I was always disappointed that the character disappeared into limbo, although I eventually learned why (and what a tragic loss Stevens passing was).
I truly hope this is a huge success. There are few characters who achieve a cult like status that borders on iconic -- and the Rocketeer is one of them. That it all winds up contributing to a good cause is icing on the cake.
That B&W page by Mike Kaluta is sheer beauty. And that cover is the best thing I've seen by Alex Ross in...I dunno. Gorgeous.
Sold, sold. Really looking forward to this. And kudos to these creators keeping the Rocketeer alive with some celebratory stories. Just from the interview, you can feel the respect for Dave Stevens and what he created.
I am super excited about this. I love Dave Stevens' Rocketeer series. I love Mike Allred art, ditto for Kuluta, ditto for Cass...and Busiek is a genius, especially when dealing with golden age ideas. This is going to be great.
This comic is PULLED! PULLED! PULLED! And PULLED again!
"That was the ebb. Pray I do not demonstrate my mastery over the flow."
Sold!
I rarely venture outside the big two, but I'm getting this the moment I can.
I can't wait to see what Busiek does with the Rocketeer, for some reason I'm the most excited for his story. There's just something about his style that makes me feel like he's really well suited for this project.
Oh my gawd, I think I just creamed a little. I can wait to see Mignola's pin-ups.

In the words of Bart Scott, "Can't Wait."
Perfect character for an anthology and one-and-done type stories.
