Oh, how I wish that "Variant Cover by WALT SIMONSON" actually read "Written by WALT SIMONSON."
Looks more like Astonishing Silver Surfer #1.

Those few pages look awesome...it's gonna be a tough wait for that hardcover in 6 months!! ugh!!
Definitely going to get this. I may not be Matt Fraction's biggest fan, but Olivier Coipel is one of the best artists in comics and his Thor work is top-notch.
Is this current Thor? Or is Thor leaving the Thor series, which becomes Journey into Mystery, then have his own on-going?
That is a fantastic looking Silver Surfer. I haven't seen that one since Jack Kirby.
Visited NY and DC and saw Spider-Man Turn off the Dark.
Journey into Mystery will revolve around Loki and some of the other Thor characters. It's starting off as a Fear Itself tie-in. This is a new Thor series that Marvel hopes will provide a fresh jumping point for anyone who is intrigued by the movie (kind of like what happened to Iron Man).
Preview looks good, beautiful art.
Despite everything else...it will surely be a gorgeous comic. Alas!

I'm absolutely fascinated by this.
As an original reader of Thor I have long awaited a Galactus/Asgard clash and much to my regret an Odin/Galactus clash never came.
In the end, and as an Australian science fiction writer: http://www.goldenvisionsmagazine.biz/AlienHunter.html I wrote a few Asgard/Galactus fan fiction clashes. You can find some of them here:

Yeah, I always thought it odd that Galactus never fought Odin or invaded Asgard (to my knowledge). Thor encountered Galactus many times, of course.
I don't have a problem with Fraction other than his pacing. The only thing I've read of him in bulk is his Iron Fist, granted. I've only skimmed his Iron Man and Uncanny X-Men. To be fair, JMS's run had slow pacing as well and it was probably the only weak link in his run.
Love the art. Coipel is truly a talent. Him teaming up with Walt Simonson on a Thor or Silver Surfer project would have me there yesterday.
"I was handed a chocolate bar and an M-1 rifle and told to go kill Hitler."--Jack "King" Kirby
Coipel is easily my favorite artist at Marvel right now. And Fraction's run has been great so far, regardless of the internet's opinion. I'm super stoked for this. And agreed with whoever said that's the best Surfer since Kirby right there.
One problem is the science. Loki's astrophysics lecture, (in the Siege free comic), puts earth's Universe as one of 9 other universes relating to Asgards, so invading Asgard could be like wading through several dimensions until you get to the rainbow bridge, and then Heimdall will see Galactus coming a mile away. Maybe Galactus only operates in the earth Universe, and now that Asgard is on earth, now Galactus can "see" Asgard?
