    Default Wonder Woman's Birthday!

Peter (Artemis boy) gave a shout-out to Wonder Woman's 70th birthday on Facebook, and it got me to thinking when the actual date should be.

According to the Time Machine, All-Star #8 came out on October 25th, 1941--

I don't remember if this is the date listed by the DC Calendar from the 70's, but doesn't that seems like a good date?

Should we celebrate October 25th as Wonder Woman's 70th birthday?

Aha-- now I know the reason for the B-day shout-out. March 22nd is the date listed in the DC Calendar from 1976. So, technically, today is Diana's birthday in the comics. Or at least the Earth-1 or Earth-2 Diana, since it was 1976.

I still say Diana, the character, should be celebrated on October 25th. What say all?

    Wonder Woman's birthday or not?
Marston's first script for "Suprema the Wonder Woman" was dated Feb 23, 1941.
All-Star Comics #8 was on-sale approximately October 25, 1941 according to ads, so the public would have been introduced to Wonder Woman on or around that day.
In 1976, DC chose to make March 22nd her birthday for their calendar, and the date was repeated in other sources afterwards.

Her gestation date! She was born 8 months later on October 25th, a premie baby. She was just bustin' to get out.

Everything before February 23rd was the wooing-- romantic dinners, walks on the beach at sunset, backrow movie dates....

I am SO glad they decided to not call her Suprema! That is ugly and sound to much like Superman

On a Facebook discussion between Phil Jimenez, myself, and others, we think we settled on a workable solution.

March 22 is the pre-Crisis Wonder Woman birthdate, as established by DC in 1976.

October 25th is the post-Crisis Wonder Woman birthdate, as established by Gail Simone's having her born during the Hunter's Moon (October) and based on her first public appearance (October 25th, 1941).

Yes, as Andy pointed out there's no way her birthday could be in March as we're told she's born under the Hunter's Moon. October 25th is a possibility, but the full moons of other months have also been called the Hunter historically, so it's still impossible to say for sure.
My Wonder Woman rant got me called an Angry Feminist and told to Get Laid. I feel like I've made it.

Well, Gail's WW wasn't exactly a mainstream WW. I'm thinking that she was in a kind of limbo continuity, what with all the evil and puppet-like Amazons and such.

    When was Diana's Day?

Still, even if Hunter's moon COULD have occured at some other time, we still know that her first appearance was on October 25. So we have 2 evidences of her post-crisis birthdate.

Plus, Andy said that he settled on that solution too - along with Jiminez and some others.

Hopefully, October is gonna be really exciting. WW's post crisis bday and the release of Arkham City. :D!!

Diana's Day, the "Amazon Christmas," was December 25th, which was described as being on the winter solstice, although I always thought that was December 21st.

In any case, I think there should be a differentiation between when Diana, the character, celebrates her birthday in the comic, and when we celebrate her as a character in all her incarnations. If they happen to coincide-- on October 25th-- then all the better.
