I guess he never saw Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.Loeb feels that the Avengers cartoon is a step in the right direction of what Marvel wants to accomplish with their new animated projects. He then went on to point out that when you look at the stuff Warner Animation has been doing, beginning with "Batman: the Animated Series," Loeb says that at the end of the day, he doesn't see DC Comics in the animation offerings from Marvel's distinguished competition
It was, perhaps, the worst offering from DC animated, and based on Loeb's and McGuinness' first arc in the Superman/Batman comic.

Glad that Avengers will return in May. Hopefully She-Hulk will make an appearance this season.
Any chance of seeing Scarlet Witch in the series since she was in the Avengers comics? While it is impossible to do so as far as live action films go I dont think the same rules apply in animated tv series as she did appear in Superhero Squad

Loeb is full of it. IF he doesn't see DC comics in their animation, he needs to look again. DC has been destroying Marvel in the animation realm for more than a decade. I do not believe he was being honest, I look at those comments and I have to believe he was doing his new corporate masters bidding when he said that. It has to be a way to play down DC's success to TRY and hype Marvels new drive towards quality animation.Loeb feels that the Avengers cartoon is a step in the right direction of what Marvel wants to accomplish with their new animated projects. I mean honestly, when you compare the JLU series to the previous Avengers series, it is very easy to see where the quality and feel of the characters and universe lie, and it is NOT with the Avengers. This newest Avengers series is a very good step in the right direction, BUT DC still has them beat.Hell even when you compare the animated movies, DC's are all much better than Marvels, except possibly The Next Avengers movie (now that was a fun little flick). All the other Marvel animated offerings have been very sub-par.
Don't get me wrong, I look forward to seeing the new series' but for Loeb to say that is just wrong.

Do the Marvel cartoons really do that either though? Even from a marketing standpoint I don't see how either companies cartoons really match the tone or sometimes even characterizations of the comics they put out. Both companies seem to put out cartoons that are very detached from continuity, sure sometimes they'll adapt a story here and there but even then they end very different in style and tone.
Any reports on the "Armored Adventures"/"Super Hero Squad" panel they did at C2E2?
Depends on how you want to look at it, I guess. But if you look at the Avengers cartoon, you've got Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, all of whom are in the Avengers book in some fashion or another. I only saw one episode of the Iron Man anime, but it was close enough to the comic, it could have been written by Ellis as an Iron Man goes to Japan mini. Haven't seen anything from Ultimate Spidey yet, but given who is involved, it should be relatively close to the core product.
Whereas as good as the Batman/Superman/Justice League were, did the books ever resemble them at all? Although with those, if anything, it's more of a condemnation of DC editorial for getting out-qualitied by the animated versions.
And again, it really doesn't point towards quality. The X-Men cartoon looked a hell of a lot more like the X-Men comics than BTAS looked like Batman books. Anyone gonna try to say that X-Men was a better show?

This is terrible news. Why not voiceovers? Dubbing doesn't work in live action, but it does in animation since they are cartoons actors.Originally Posted by Loeb
Horrible news might be overstating things a bit. Oh noes, it's being broadcast in the language it was originally written for? OK, I guess not quite, unless Ellis is fluent in Japanese. I wonder if the subs are taken from his original script, or what it was translated into? Either way, purists prefer subs in their anime.

A lot of people get sentience confused for sapience. Your hamster is sentient, you are sapient. Intelligence is sapience.
DC had a kids line to support those shows. There were comics that went along with the shows, be it any variety of Batman shows (Batman Beyond or Brave/Bold, The Batman, etc) Superman, or the Justice League.
Regardless, I'm pretty sure that when each of those cartoons were on over the past 15 years, you'd find Bats, Supes, and the Justice League in their books.
The difference is that Marvel is animating stories we've already read, whereas WB animation was providing mostly original content. DC saves adaptations for the straight to DVD projects.
