    Question Obscure one-shot teams

It's happened before, that a writer introduces a never-heard-before superhero team of a country not known to have one, when the title character or team visits that country, for purpose of plot and interaction, before that team serves its purpose and is never heard from again.

For example, in Invincible Iron Man #2 Fraction debuts the Triumph Division of the Philippines (where I live) when Stark flies to Manila. After saving the populace from a tsunami (of which we just witnessed the horror in real life), the local heroes receive accolades but are then blown-up a few panels later by a suicide bomber, with only a few lines of dialog spoken. They barely appear on the scene and then are wiped out!

In Fantastic Four #541 by Straczynski, Grimm moves to France and meets the Heroes of Paris. They fare much better here, aided by the Thing in battling a lovelorn villain. But again, to my knowledge, they never show up again.

Any more examples of one-shot local superheroes and teams, and would you want to bring them back?

Ireland's Kinsmen -- from an issue of the 80s/90s Marvel Comics Presents. Boulder (has a magic rock that gets bigger the further it is from him), Dyke (water nymph), Highlander (sapient mound of soil), Rapscallion ("cruelest bouncer in Ireland"), Teleplex (kind of a technopath, with a strength in spatial geometry), Wee One (a leprechaun, naturally). They're overseen by Mr. McFadden, a Henry Gyrich type.

I don't think they qualify as one-shot, but I think Machine Man and Awesome Andy should get the Heavy Metal team of robots (from an arc of Avengers) back together.

They actually sound pretty cool and I want to track down that issue now.

A search turned up Marvel Presents #43 for the Kinsmen. China's Eight Immortals had two appearances in X-Men then that's it.

Not really one-shot teams. Some lasted 7 issues.

    The Livewires. Cyberpunk team

And Big Hero Six. Japan Superhero team

    The Crew. Urban Avengers

    The God Squad

More countries should have their own teamns that the Avengers or whoever talk to whenever they're in said nation.

Outlaws--the first thunderbolts! Spider-man and prowler lead bad guys turned heroes. They showed up a few times and marvel never used them again. They need a ongoing!

Misfits--Frog-man's team only showed up in two comics. Both split up after one mission!

Neo-knights--circuit breakers team. Marvel was going to bring them into the marvel universe with a ongoing comic. Then nothing.

    Falling Angels--Nuff said.

Brute force--animal super team. Gone after 4 issues!

Thor corps--gone after one mini series.

    Star force-same.

    Daydreamers--same.

All 50 states teams!--what a waste. We didn't even get to see all the teams! I wanted to see force works! They needed a mini-series showing off these teams. Are some of the teams still here? Is action pack still a team?

    Give us a mini-series marvel!

The Super-Heroes of Europe have appeared a few times, but I always thought they had some potential.

Heck, them along with the Irish team and the French team mentioned, plus the Marvel UK character, Europe seems to be bursting with superheroes.

Do you mean Star Masters or the Kree Star Force. One still got a few issues beyond the mini in a quaterly comics (Cosmic Powers, I think it was called). The Other barely appeared once in Quasar after Operation Galactic Storm. I liked both.

    Peace

Yeah, the Initative had massive potential, that is was unfulfilled wasn't down to the excellent writers, but the 'architects' ending the title far, far too early.

Yeah, S.H.E. has had a few appearances . . . but it's always the same writer (Paul Jenkins, their creator) who keeps going back to them. So they still qualify as an "obscure one-shot team" to me.

For me, the true test to determine whether a group has transcended the “obscure one-shot team” label and become more accepted as a legitimate Marvel team is whether they have been picked up by other writers. It’s what separates Big Hero 6 from the rest of the pack!

Highlander, Wee One and Dyke seem odd names. Two Scots links and one Dutch. Did a Yank ;-) write it?
