So today is the BIG day! Hope everyone enjoys issue 1, I'm planning on it

This news story came out earlier this week, adding some controversy to the kick off of Kingdom of Monsters--

Since I buy most of my comics via Lone Star, I ordered their exclusive variant. Very excited to get this!

Can't wait to get this tomorrow afternoon! I'm glad that IDW has found a way to give back to Japan with this book, it's really fitting in a way so I'll definitely get that commemorative collection when it comes out in August.

I am REALLY interested in this series after having seen the preview art.

Friggin' Wizard... I loved it as a kid. Looking back on it, Keith Giffen was totally right. Wizard was the Fox News to Marvel's GOP. Ridiculous.

Just close-read that interview's ending, and noticed that Phil Hester is only signed on for the first arc, which is a slight bummer, but still... He's one of my favorite penciller's. His style is super-expressive and so idiosyncratic. Great stuff. I'm looking forward to this, and think I'll pick up a copy if any are left over when I stop at my LCS to pick up my pulls next month.

It is a bit of a bummer that Hester may not be sticking around, but then again as a kid I always liked how Godzilla looked a little different each time so different artists giving it go wouldn't be so bad.

Just read it. Pretty standard Godzilla introduction issue: Godzilla appears for the first time, rampages, humans are baffled... but is there really another way to introduced Godzilla?

Phill Hester's art is what really stood out. Great layouts and a really great take on Godzilla visually. I hope Legendary Pictures looks at this issue and says "Yup, that's what Godzilla should look like!"

Man that was great! I really liked how they portrayed his complete indifference towards humanity, right from the start with the kids on the beach and the old woman and the grocer, I was sure they would escape but no Godzilla dispatched them with out even really recognizing their existence.

The page lay out was probably my favorite bit though, the way they helped portray the attack, only revealing bits of Godzilla really enhanced the feeling of terror.

That's pretty awesome. I'm actually tempted to et one of those as I saw on the checklist that the comic shop I used to go to when I was in college had one of these covers and they were donating part of the sales to the Red Cross for Japan.

I had to pass up the Curious Comics cover, I liked the Powell cover too much. Too expensive to buy both covers.

    Will read now.

It was either the Curious cover or.. the curious cover.

When you order 300+ copies, you push the one you have the most of.

Nothing happened in this comic. It was just Godzilla smashing buildings and killing people.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the way the comic portrayed the big-G, but there was nothing in this issue that made me ant to pick up the next issue. In fact, the lack of any kind of story, made me not want to get the next issue. Hell, to be honest I'm not even interested in downloading the next issue.
