See, I think this is part of the problem with Namor's sales -- the retailers don't think it will do that well and under order. My LCB has sold out of the last two issues. They only got in a couple of the trades and sold out. Another store in town sold out of the last two issues too. I hope the trade does exceptionally well, for the sake of the book.
Me too. Plus it's easier to find the book on my shelf than the floppies in the boxes under the bed.
I really would like to see Namora and Namorita and Namor all in his book at least once.
I love that cover for UXM 527. Too bad the interior story had NOTHING to do with that and nothing like it occurred.
So, do you like the X-costume? I think it's pretty sleek, but I think he needs to lose the big x-buckle for something a bit understated, especially in New Atlantis, and I really don't like the collar.
But I have to say, the speedo is my favorite costume.![]()
Funny you would post about that, because I was just about to ask what everyone's favorite Namor costume was. I know a lot of people like to make jokes about the speedo, but whenever I think of Namor, I always picture him in the green trunks. I do like his X-costume too though, but it mostly depends on who is drawing it. I really like how Dodson draws it, and I actually like the big collar. I also like the way it was drawn in the X-Men/Agents of Atlas crossover. I think it was Pagulyan. He drew it were the pants weren't skin tight around his calves and ankles, and they had a slit up the sides for the wings to come out. I cant stand that old school dark blue costume with the gold underarm wings.
"I dont care who you are back in the world."
really don't like the fact that he's wearing shoes. he doesn't need them! he's a swimmer and his skin is bullet-proof. the red belt is fine, it's a nice focal point (check out the jae lee covers).
lmao @ atlantean-skin magic books. it'd be nice to see u-man working for sin.
I saw that and have already whined about how it probably won't mean squat for Namor and the Atlanteans in the event. I really don't understand why they bother, because they won't DO anything with such a great plot hook. Cyke's gets on all the promos and is worrying about becoming Magneto ... Namor gets to make Cyke nervous about Emma.![]()
The speedo makes many folks nervous, hence the humor.
Some folks refer to the old school costume as his disco costume, but I don't mind it. The wings have a finny look and they remind of Black Bolt, whose costume I love. Pagulyan's Agents of Atlas Namor was great!
Yes, but that may be an artist thing ... they don't want to draw toes?
Exactly, the X-costume seems to more at the mercy of the artist than the speedo. I mean, look at that collar, it's out of control! Also, the gloves???
I guess part of my problem with the X buckle is that I don't think the Atlanteans appreciate it much. As a costume element it works very nicely ... as long as it isn't plate like.
I love the big collar and I like the V cut, but I wish it cut down lower.
Wanda Maximoff is a joke!
darknessatnoon: Was Xavier's dream to marry a vibrator and steal children from other families?
i don't know why he's wearing gloves in that scene....rheged, you bring up a good point about the x-belt being a point of contention for namor and the atlanteans.
but to me...that's probably why he needs to keep it on. the atlanteans don't respect the x-men and the x-men don't really seem to consider the fact that they have a barbaric race living in the water below them. namor needs to keep that belt on to tell his subjects that he is king, and they can either adjust to the change or not let the door hit them on the way out. it's also a reminder to the x-men that they have new partnerships that must be respected.
namor gave a good line to emma about how atlanteans have done nothing but prop the x-men up since the utopia move, and the x-men haven't given back anything in return.
olivetti and lee do a better job of portraying the collar than other artists. dodson does pretty well though.
I dig the x-costume.
The (oversized) speedo from Issue #1 (in my first post) is hard to beat though.
Also, I loved Dodson's cover.
I remember flipping through the issue at Midtown.
When I realized there was no content to match the iconic image I put it back.
Truly a classic cover though.

Hmmmmm. I'm all for a lower cut, but that might look odd. But the Jae Lee speedo is pretty darn low cut.
I don't care what Chris Samnee says, I love that John Buscema 'ladies panties' cover! I really enjoyed Samnee and Langdrige's take on Namor for Thor the Mighty Avenger.
That Dodson cover was amazing. And wasted on that issue.![]()
