Im probably going to continue reading the 90s Namor series. I got a big horror/super natural itch and decided to read some other stuff but all this AvX talk has got wanting to continue. I stopped at the 4th issue i think, with the oil spill and the FF.

I'm very interested in Namor taking the offensive and possibly breaking his long friendship with Steve Rogers over this to join the X-Men cause fully.

Very probable that the Helicarrier assault kills many innocent Atlanteans thus bringing Namor to a rage.

You guys think we'll get some panel time with Namor and Emma talking about the whole situation? I think Namor is gonna use it as more ammo to get with Emma

The dialogue from the 90s Namor run is hilarious. Hearing Namor say "great neptunes trident" reminds me of spongebob as a kid.

You'll probably like the Jae Lee and Bob Harras stuff then. It has a dark fantasy / horror vibe. Good stuff!

LOL! The stuff from the Golden Age is even more funny. He says stuff like "Holy Halibut!" and "Sufferin' Shad!"

namor has the best declarations! he's not the sub-mariner without them. so, that preview image is namor? i have to say that the outfit looks good on him...i really hope he has a good showing in wakanda. it would be nice if namora could come to his aid in that invasion.

I'm very interested in seeing if any of the writers remember he HAS a long friendship with Steve Rogers.

If that helicarrier falls into New Atlantis, I think Namor's going to break with ALL the surface dwellers. He and Abira sacrificed a lot to prevent Utopia from falling into their city, so it isn't like he doesn't have the resources to prevent that sort of thing now. Of course, see above about writers remembering. Plus, the invasion of Wakanda is like 6 issues later ... I tend to think it has more to do with Emma going Phoenix or Cyke and his 'no more Avengers.'

Yeah, Namor doesn't pass up any opportunities, does he? LOL! I don't know, but I sort of doubt it. I think Gillen and Hickman are the only two folks that seem to be aware that Namor and Emma are flirting and putting it in the books. And of course, I didn't think Namor would get any panel time period, so I'm clearly not the best judge.

I am very curious WHAT sets Namor off and if he's the one who will be re-thinking the X-Men alliance.

    Which preview image?

Given what he's facing, I don't see how Namor's going to win, but like you, I'm hoping for a good showing. And no stupid dehydrating powder. That's the problem with writing a genius like T'challa, or Doom or such. The folks writing them aren't the genius they are.

    I do miss Namora.

Almost every ally he's had has abandoned or betrayed him, including the X-Men, right before he joined Doctor Doom and the Cabal. A previous Atlantis was destroyed by air breather actions right above their city that brought the polar ice down on them. No, I don't expect Namor to be prowling the common areas or even the private areas. But I do expect he has people constantly surveying Utopia and other places with both tech and magic to gather information to keep Atlantis safe. Remember, _Atlanteans_ built the column which houses the brig where Shaw was held. And Namor knew that Emma had been hurt during Fear Itself.

Add to this, his resistance to telepathy / mind control, and it's seems more likely that Namor has known Shaw was alive for quite some time.
Do they know to be checking/scanning for Shaw? And why would they?
I would imagine Namor is specific in his instructions, as evidenced by his knowledge of Emma's injuries/whereabouts.
    Emma is a unique case.

that one in the general avx speculation thread? looked like namor with the pointy ears and bracelets. i could be wrong though.

about namora, she was a central character in the avengers 1959 series. i am curious why bendis doesn't want to bring her more into the present-day stories.

IF Namor knew all along that Emma didn't behead Shaw, then yes, he could be on their list of folks to keep an eye on. If the Atlanteans bugged the Brig, which they built, then yes, they'd know that Shaw was alive and to watch for him.

I would guess they would be checking and scanning Utopia for anything that results in large chunks of debris falling on them. It's a general scan. I would also think they'd be tied into the X-Men's general alarm system, which, IIRC, went off when Cyclops saw who Hope's team brought back with them.

I agree, Namor prolly directed them to specifically watch Emma ... which would mean he would know she pulled Shaw from the Brig and went to China, and dropped him off.

Of course, this is my own personal theory. A way to try and explain the situation with Shaw, that apparently no one wants to deal with.

Ah, right. The one Shogun seems to have called correctly with the shoulder pads. Can't wait to see that in more detail.

Maybe Namora will be called up for the invasion of Wakanda?

It would be cool if Andromeda and the Royal Logmancer accompanied Namor, too! Abira would help even the odds!

I can't accept it. Forgive me.

I refuse to believe that Namor knows of Shaw's current condition.
No disrespect to Namor's intelligence, and forgive my ignorance but I'm unaware of any immunity to telepathy on his part.
I just don't believe he would care to investigate or keep an eye out for a guy he "saw" decapitated.
