I'm enjoying Mike's work on iZombie very much... but lost track of the Madmanverse when Mike started doing so much work for Marvel, instead, and when "Madman" became more about the Atomics than Frank himself. I was also massively upset to see It Girl take Joe's place.
Will Joe be back in the new special? Could someone nushell it for me as to what happened with the whole It Girl/Joe-replacement thing, anyway?
I'm not the best at nutshelling, but here goes.
It Girl used her powers of absorbtion to absorbe Joe's essence when she was destroyed. As such, she became a kind of composite of It Girl and Joe in one body.
Then Dr. Flem grew Joe a NEW body and transferred Joe's essence from It Girl into her new body, so they're both whole, distinct characters again and all is well.
Be happy and rejoice that new "MADMAN" is on it's way!
HURRAY!
Madman is my all-time favorite comic, bar-none.
There is a genuine and radiant humanity in the Allreds' work of which I will never grow tired.
My guess for the "One of the biggest movie stars on the planet" is Johnny Depp. Madman would fit right in with Edward Scissorhands, Jack Sparrow, and all the other quirky-cool characters he has portrayed in the past. I could see it.
I could see it too but I don't know if I'd like it. I'm a little over the quirky Jack Sparrow/Hunter S. Thompson persona he uses in nearly every film.

When's Robert Rodriguez finally going to get around to filming this already? It's been years since the announcement of getting George Huang (Swimming with Sharks) to write the screenplay.
Plus, he still has Sin City 2 to do, the script of which is supposedly done...
