Finished what is fast becoming my annual reread of Zatch Bell. 335 chapters long and I have read it four times now and still love it.

This manga remains probably my favourite series ever, everything from the great artwork to the compelling characters, the great humour to the gripping emotional conflicts, all of it works beautifully to come together as one of the finest examples of Shonen manga ever made.

To quote myself from the last time I read it:

Now, the thing I've been reading most recently would be Zatch Bell, yes again. For the... third time, I have pretty much read it in it's entirety and I have to say... it is still one of my favourite manga of all time.

Raiku Matoko is some kind of a genius. His artwork is fantastic, his comedy is funny, his fight choreography is absolutely stellar and, the thing that consistently impresses me the most about Zatch Bell, is how he has a really big cast but manages to give everyone enough screen time to be really, really awesome. It's an incredible feat of balancing on his part.

So yeah, read it. Zatch Bell is utterly incredible and just pure fun as well, you'll laugh, you'll be fired up to unbelievable levels and you may even shed a tear or two before it's over.

I'm aware I have at least two other posts of this length spelling out the same thing but the series really doesn't get enough credit around here. Read it, it's amazing.

A couple of delcious scans of Desu Ka fanservice have also surfaced. As nice as bunny girl Eu is, I don't know if the show can top "Wearing only a man's shirt Eu."

Well, I finally read the latest translated Index novel.

And holy shit, the Kiharas are a lot scarier now that their origins have been expanded.

Before: A family of psychotic scientists.

After: THE LIVING EMBODIMENT OF SCIENCE'S DARK SIDE

Well, to be more precise, the Kihara name isn't limited to those who share the same bloodline as them. As long as science exists, there will be people who seek to misuse it. The most prominent and dangerous of those abusers of science are the Kiharas. Even if the current bloodline is wiped out, somebody will be born with Kihara-like traits and take up their name.

And Kihara-like traits include an incredible aptitude for science as well as utter amorality. Even Kihara Enshuu had no conscience, even though she was raised in complete isolation and lacked the 'Kihara-ness' of her family.

Ah, Eu is so cute... no wait, rather what's up with this disgusting amount of happiness Ayumu is feeling. The protagonist of this show shouldn't be so happy!

Oh wait, dressing as a bride. Good, but needs more.

Yeah, I have to agree. Oga is hopeless case. Really the two of them have no compatibility.
