Default CBR: ECCC: Marvel's Next Big Thing

Nick Spencer is a good catch. What are the odds Marvel put him on Runaways.

Didn't we already have an awful Ultimate Spiderman tv show by Bendis?

Dini on board might just save it but I don't understand why Marvel are still pushing the Ultimate brand?

Aren't all these constant cartoon ravamps a little confusing for kids too? I didn't even know Spectacular Spiderman had finihsed but here we are with yet another one.

"Ultimate Spider-Man It's much more akin to '30 Rock' or 'Arrested Development' than any other superhero show."
    So it's a comedy show?

Cebulski confirmed plans to bring back popular X-Men villain Omega Red
Another dude that comes back in a short amount of time. But being X-factor its probably a weird future version from another dimension.

The MTV one from what he tells he had no or little control so he didnt care.
With this one either he is promoting it because HE is Ultimate Spider-man or he got more control over it.

And once again Marvel fails to promote Alpha Flight.

Problem with these panels are 2 things:

1 the questions are staged before hand and the askers work for marvel or

2 the "fans" are just dumb asses that can't ask an intelligent question and don't want to seem unfriendly.

    I personally think it's senario 1.

I didn't realize that the Ulitmate books are popular. Most comic shop don't order a lot if you look at diamond's self published numbers of comic shop orders not sales mind you orders, sales would be far less.

I am going to go out on a limb and say Fear will suck and all the one shots and minis to go along with it will suck, just like Chaos War. I can't believe 15,000 copies of that were ordered yes that was the order numbers published by Diamond in Dec.

Clearly, you've never been to a convention.

I was going to say. I've been to a few and have asked questions a few times. I don't work for Marvel. And often there's an angry statement/question or just plain uncomfortable moment when someone bitches about something they don't like.

Heh. They've been giving that Art Adams/Ultimate X 'new baby' excuse for so long, I think the kid is walking by now.

Exactly. I might be a 'dumb ass' fan in the question line, but at least I'm not 'that guy' with no social skills and a sense of entitlement.

Um because a lot of people still like the Ultimate Universe. And they know how great of a Universe it is. They want a bigger fanbase for it so it can last longer.
I could ask the same thing about Marvel's Cosmic Universe.
You cant hate the Universe for a couple of bad writers. If that were so, I would hate all of Marvel's 616.

I am just grateful to whoever it was that was asked the Ultimate Universe. However, I doubt we shall be seeing Ultimate X again anytime soon.

Ultimate Spider-man sounds kinda weird. Is it more of a comedy?

Smashingly foresighted by Marvel to nab up Spencer straight from under DC's nose, heh heh heh. ^^

Seriously tho'... Marvel's done an outstanding job of nabbing up the really good, CLEAR stars of tomorrow, when it comes to writing. Yet DC seems to be... I don't know what to call it... frozen stuck? Seems like they can't act boldly and make a drastic recruitment-move worth a dime...

Hello? Is that you Jim Lee? Are you asleep at the wheel? Yes? Oh? Well go back to bed then.

DC nabbed Paul Cornell from under Marvel's nose (sob), so I guess turnabout is fair play... though I haven't read anything by Spencer ...

He's still being allowed to write THUNDER, Morning GLories, and Infinite Vacation, but he can't start any new series at other conmpanies.
