Default CBR: ECCC: The DC Universe Panel

DC Comics rewarded good questions with donuts at ECCC's DC Universe panel. Topics discussed at Saturday's panel included "Flashpoint," "All-Star Wonder Woman" "Action Comics" and much more.

    So basically they said nothing.

Wow. What was the point of that panel?

From the sounds of it people were just asking stupid questions, I hate when people ask like "What will happen to this character?" because they know they won't answer the question. People should learn how to ask questions that can have real answers.

    :D

It was definitely short and uninformative.

But somehow oddly I got a warm glow seeing Bob Harras there.

Maybe DC will be the new Marvel. I hope Bob can tighten up DC and make it like Marvel was under him. I fondly remember the great Heroes Return books, Thunderbolts and all that stuff from his era. Maybe under Bob, DC is where I can transfer my Marvel loyalty. It's not like Marvel anymore has any of the people I was loyal to.

Was this panel a joke? Because I can hardly believe that 7 men went up on stage, had absolutely no presentation, and then asked for Q&A for an hour without giving a single real answer to any question.

Love him or hate him, Didio knew how to get a roomful of fans buzzing. DC Nation and the DC comics panel the next day were always fun when he ran them at Heroes Con. I hope by the time summer rolls around, Bob will have learned a few things.

    Default Useless ...

Sure, the STORY is useless. It gives the reader nothing. But I suspect that whoever wrote the story cares less about DC and much more about Marvel. If a DC fan had written the story we - probably - would have had a lot more information to read.

So judging by the panel, I guess no donuts were handed out...

Yea shadowpdf is right - I'm thinking maybe there wasn't that much information, but the blogger could have at least written up some of the questions raised at the panel and the responses. The marvel panels didn't have lots of specific details given either, but they listed their jokes and hints at the future. THis was just a bad write-up

Hey Bob Harras, how about taking the death thing a step farther and instead of not bringing back dead characters, you just have your writers not kill them in the first place?

I know, I know. Johns and Robinson will probably be apopleptic at you denying them their only writing crutch, but its really hard for us as readers and fans to form any kind of emotional attachment to a character that most likely will be killed off in the next 12 months.

I think that's what he means here:
Harras acknowledged that death has been "overdone in the business as a whole." "If death happens it's gotta be a major thing,"

Unfortunately, if its not SDCC, Wondercon or NYCC or its new sister Chicago Con, none of the major companies will consider it important enough to actually announce anything major.

Notice how Marvel just used it to promote the Chicago Con in two weeks where they actually expect to announce stuff just like DC will (also because that's right when the next batch of Diamond solicits hit the web).

Kinda short changes all these other conventions even though we know people don't go to them looking for the news, they go there to buy stuff, meet their favorite writers/artists, and get stuff signed.
