Ali Blaire gets a lot of guff from the core X-men, Psylocke barring (though I doubt she's even actually listened to a full Dazzler LP), simply because she chose to have a life outside of the X-Men.
Recently, obviously incensed by the the X-Men's recent preference for fellow student Hisako Ichiki, Pixie in a bid to come off as "one of the gang" has joined in the passive Dazzler bashing. Grating as it is to read, It does bring up (I'm assuming Gillen will make it a sub arc out of sooner or later) the issue of Ali being "out of touch".
Maybe she is. Classic Dazz was daring, bold, in your face. She took her four piece band and played Disco at a gutter punk club, ya'll. She used to be the mutant poster child of NYC cool. Perhaps one too many bad relationships took it out of her? The impending threat of mutant oblivion broke her stride? Her miscarriage? Who knows.
If Terry Mcmillan wrote the X-Books we'd have Ali "getting in touch" with a younger X-Man. Should she? If so, Who?
What do you think it would take to get her back in touch with her "cool" again?
