Yeah I think it is, though its mostly ignored now. I do wonder what ever happened to Nina and the magic tranny from that series.

Great thread. Elektra is my second favourite Marvel character of all time, but I have to agree that no-one seems to know how to write her properly at all. The male writers all seem stumped by her vicissitude (alternation between opposite or contrasting things) and 'tweener' status. She is, after all, an assassin. Not a Hero, but not a Villain either, she operates in that grey area of constant moral event horizons that mainstream comics do not usually do well.

About the one thing I dislike about Elektra are the sais - in reality a Sai is a very awkward and unwieldy weapon for a female fighter; but even with suspension of disbelief as we're talking about comic book super-heroines, I still prefer Elektra when she uses a Sword, her mystic powers, or fights unarmed.

I hope she's given another shot at her own regular title. Here's a pic where she looks beautiful IMO, with Matt -

I liked the stories when Greg Rucka was writing her. Zeb Wells knows how to write her as well.
Also I don't like it when shes an assassin, I think Rucka made a point of showing how all that killing was her way of coping with her father's death. It was Rodi who went back on all that development for some reason and turned her back into an assassin towards the end of her 2nd ongoing.

You make good points, but if she's not an assassin, what is she? You can't seriously make her a regular superhero...

She's sort of like a Mercenary like Silver Sable. I know she tried to be a super hero before in her 1st ongoing but her attitude towards killing ended up making her conflict with Daredevil.

I could see her as an agent of Shield since they have hired her to do work for them in the past.

Yeah, I agree. A government/military or intelligence agency is the ticket for her, S.H.I.E.L.D would be perfect. Something like that legitimizes what she does, and suits her skills.

When she first appeared she was described as both an assassin and a bounty hunter so they could do more with that role. I think they could redefine her role in Heroes for Hire if they ever get round to using her again. I think she would work well with Silver Sable and other characters as a black ops operating for H4H team.
