I really don't like Crossbones.
Rapist shouldn't be glorified.
Great artwork.![]()
Top 10: Hawkguy, GIJoe Cobra, The Massive, Daredevil, Wonder Woman, Fury MAX, The Black Beetle, Batman, Winter Soldier, Suicide Squad, and The Activity.
Well it looks like been revealed, spoilers:end of spoilers
that Crossbones and the Thunderbolts will play a role in Fear Itself as the series tie into the event. ![]()
I really like the artwork, and getting a story from Crossbones' perspective should be interesting.
I agree that doing a book about a rapist is a touchy subject. Still, Marvel would hardly be the first to glorify a rapist character...soap operas have been doing "the rapist with a heart of gold" stories for years now.
I'm in if Cap kicks his rapist teeth in, though.
Is it confirmed that Crossbones raped Diamondback? I'm not particularly familiar with the characters' pasts, and all the information I can find about it is that he "assaulted" her.
Anyway, like I think I've said before, I don't particularly love Crossbones but I'm looking forward to this simply because of Declan Shalvey's gorgeous, gorgeous art.
Not going to lie, going just by the comic page, it looks more like Crossbones is a wife-beater than a rapist. Not that it's any better.
I'm excited for this, all of our villains can't be nice guys. Crossbones is a scumbag and has pretty much always been depicted as one. It's one of the things that makes him fascinating to read.
I've often wondered if Crossbones was replaced by Master Man in "The trial of the Winter Soldier" arc so that he could move onto the Thunderbolts. It kinda feels weird when you're reading it, like it doesn't quite flow properly.
Anyway, I might give this one a miss. I'm still looking forward to the Black Widow/Sharon Carter and Peggy Carter ones though.
