It was from an interview with Newsarama, I believe.

Personally, I'm thinking 40 issues at this point. I just can't see Lemire wrapping it all up in 8 issues.

Agree with you though regarding his creator-owned work. Sweet Tooth is far, far, far better than Superboy, though I'll admit that a large part of that is that I'm not wild about Gallo's art and even less wild about Grant's colors.

Animal Man and Frankenstein look nifty though, and closer to Lemire's strengths.

To be fair, Superboy is just a terrible character that has been mishandled for years. Superboy-Prime is a different story.

I liked the idea of Superboy turning full fledged villian back when Geoff Johns was writing Teen Titans but they pulled back from going long-term with it.

The character has never been taken seriously since his debut in Reign of Superman and I think Lemire played it smart by making the book more about Smallville than about Superboy. Some decentmysteries and chracters other than Conner to focus on - it is probably the worst book Lemire has put out, BUT, it's still not a terrible book. There's much worse out there (cough cough 99.8% of Marvel cough cough)

Oh and I read issue #23 last night, that ending!!!!

Lemire, how can you do such a thing and make us wait a month to see the outcome, damn you!!! Great issue, again, the plot barely moved this issue, but it had enough happenings between characters to keep it interesting.

I really hope this series goes 50 issues at least. I could see it lasting about that.

I know I'm late, but on #23, did anyone find Walter's conversation with Becky creepy??

I get the feeling that Walter is going to snap and it won't end up pretty for him. I mean he's let in strangers to his home and is often pushed aside or ignored.

Finally had a chance to read issue #24. Holy crap, this was one of the most beautiful books I've ever seen. The water colors were absolute spectacular.

I don't know if I would even consider it "snapping." I've distrusted Walter since the moment we met him and have just been waiting for him to do something awful. The conversation with Becky just solidified that he's up to something for me.

I just got the 3rd trade: it continues to entertain.

FYI, Jeff Lemire has stated in recent interviews that he expects Sweet Tooth to run for 50 issues at this point. I'll look up a link and post it later.

Just out of interest, I was just wondering if anyone else had trouble picking up Sweet Tooth #25 yesterday. I went to my LCS to pick it up (along with my other books), and learned that they hadn't received Sweet Tooth with their shipment. Since I specifically ordered it (it isn't just on my hold list), I would have received a copy even if I'm the only patron of my LCS who reads it, so I'm quite sure it's not a case of my LCS simply not ordering it.

So I was wondering if this was some kind of wider problem regarding the shipment of ST #25. I live in San Diego, so I'm especially interested if other readers in southern California ran into this particular problem.

Thanks in advance for any responses, positive or negative. Unfortunately, I really love this series, and missed it despite my gobs of new DCU number ones (including the lovely-looking and Lemire-scribed Animal Man!).

That's no good, my shop seemed to have no issues with #25, I got my copy and there were a few more sitting on the shelf still (they may have recently increased their orders, not sure). It was a good issue, and I will have to give it another read before giving my thoughts on it, and this arc that it finishes. I do hope you were able to get a copy or will be able to soon!

I think my shop just got skipped. I should still be getting #25, this week, I think (I hope).

Anyhow, with regard to the number of issues the series will run, the money quote comes from a Comics Alliance interview in July:

I definitely have always known the ending. It's fully formed...I even have a rough draft of the final issue written...

Having said that, the middle section of that journey is still totally open. Where they're going is clear, how they're going to get there leaves me a lot of room to expand the story and develop new characters. At different points my overall plan for Sweet Tooth has grown from 24 issues to 36 to now at about 50 issues.

Since the number of issues the story could run is fluid, it could well change again, either up or down. I'm inclined to believe we'll be reading Sweet Tooth for at least a couple more years, though.

I've read the 1st 3 trades now (and got them all signed by Lemire, with some nice sketches in them too!) and I agree. It's a nice slow burn. You find yourself getting attached to the characters really well and invested in them.

I don't want this book to end as long as it continues to entertain. I hope it can go 100 issues if possible. So long as it's relevant to the story he had in mind.
