Don't get too excited, it's just re-used art. Look at the date -- 2003.

Actually it's 1983. From one of Marvel's house ads at the time.
The combined art might of Simonson and Coipel still cannot wash away the vomitous stain and stench of a story written by ************. (Look at the utter shite of the current Thor ongoing for reference)
If they really wanted this to succeed they should have hired Simonson himself to write it.

I just can't get into the Fraction/Ferry run. I read the first two issues and stopped due to lack of interest. They're trying to lure people back who remember JMS by using Coipel.
"...Doom's enemies have not the mettle to challenge him host to host, tooth to nail... As economic and military options fail them, they resort to simple rudeness."
Is that the actual variant cover, or will we not see it until the issue hits?
I would've liked to Simonson do the modern Thor just to see his interpretation of it.
THOR versus GALACTUS? And its not written and drawn by Walt Simonson? Damn shame, the Simonson artwork lured me in, but I'm leaving disappointed.
what is W.S. up too in general these days? is he retired, or semi-retired? for someone who used to be awfully prolific, i don't recall seeing/hearing his name too much of late...
============ Just say "NO!" to $4 books. ============
I don't normally gush over this type of stuff, but this is proof why Walt Simonson is probably the definitive Thor artist. I also remember following Fantastic Four and X-Factor for a number of years just to admire his art. Simple. Elegant. Awesome. The man hasn't lost a step.
Come on Marvel. What next? House Ads by Byrne and Miller from the early 80's to be used as "Variant" covers for X-Men and Daredevil? You are really scraping the bottom now.
