Its as likely to be a jesus analogue as it is to be a allah analogue.
At this point it needs to be pointed out that John Carter of Mars was a messiah type of character, with very famous initials, who did die to save his people and was resurrected afterwards.

And that there's plenty of religious influences in Edgar Rice Burrough's works.

'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

Have you actually read any of the old book series? Because if you have, then i'd think you'd pretty quickly lose any belief that he's a messiah character... He was a killer, not a messiah, a warlord, a prince, but never a messiah.

What does Jimmy Carter have to do with this?

Actually he spends that entire first book essentially dead (in fact he spends the majority of the books dead): In truth he's in suspended animation, as part of the Astral Projection process. Which book exactly di he come back from the dead in, as i don't recall it?

A very long time ago. Haven't gotten around to see the film yet.

Do you actually know what a messiah is? Hint: it's usually not a pacifist.

    MESSIAH
    1. also Mes·si·as (m-ss) The anticipated savior of the Jews.
    2. also Messias Christianity Jesus.
    3. messiah One who is anticipated as, regarded as, or professes to be a savior or liberator.

John Carter was ne4ver any of those things.

Free online dictionairies are generally not very useful guidelines to define complex concepts.

But specifically to Jesus, he was expected to save/liberate Israel from the occupying Romans, and nobody was expecting him to do it in a very friendly manner at the time.

Since words are always defined in hindsight -- as a result of experience -- you can't expect us to cling to the definition of Messiah used by the Jews or Romans of the time.

Especially since the major point of the Gospels is that they got it wrong and thought of it in extremely small terms, as compared to what it really entailed in the story.

"Messiah" or "Messianic" has a wide variety of connotations, much greater than to that both you or Kelly are trying to confine it.
