Edit Alert - It says "Mariah Hill" and I think you meant "Maria Hill".
I have a HUGE crush on this young lady. Therefore, she is the perfect casting choice.

I read somewhere Whedon was trying to get her for Wonder Woman. Way back when.
I haven't seen her in much. But she seems like the kind of actor he uses in his other stuff (pretty, good comic timing).
Kind of interested how Maria Hill will play into this. I always liked the character early on in Bendis's run. Whedon mentioned Civil War being an influence on how he'll deal with Tony and Steve's personalities (I'd imageine the story won't play that way though).

Well, I love Cobie, but I really hope Maria Hill has nothing to do with this movie. It's ridiculous if that utterly useless character's in it but actual core parts of the Avengers -- Jan and Wanda -- aren't.
I don't quite see the point in this casting or the attention being paid to it. Isn't Hill now most famous for being bedded by Stark before, during or after Potts? Her Civil War days are long behind her.

I've watched plenty of HIMYM and I think she's great, but I just cannot envision her being commanding or tough in anyway shape or form. So I'm currently not a fan of this casting, but its no big deal because Hill will be a small enough presence in the films that it won't bother me.
Edgar Wright asked Marvel not to use Hank Pym in the Avengers until his own movie came out and I could see them holding off on Jan as well. And I'm not sure what the rights issues are with Wanda.
We don't know what the movie is about so it's not fair to call her useless. I'm mean Jan and Wanda could be useless if they just put them in the script with no good story reason for her to be in there.
She's hot.
And I think she would have made a good Wonder Woman, too.
