This quote is depressing to me. Sure, Outsiders should be about big dumb fun superhero action, but the joy of the original series was in seeing the characters develop, and seeing how they get used to each other and the team, and how all that plays into the BIFF BAM POW.Actually, this fit into everything I'd had planned for "Outsiders" from day one. "Outsiders" was always going to be a giant fight book with a B-movie feel. We were always looking to capture that along the way, and that's exactly what's going on here.
I'm not saying Outsiders should be a touchy-feeling talking heads book, but I'd like to see the book and the characters reclaim their personality and uniqueness.
Thanks for completely blowing over Steel, Didio, I wonder how those counter statistics are holding up.

Glad to see Batman will be starring in another book.
I love the concept of Batman putting together an Outsiders group. That's very strong.
Judd's Outsiders started off very strong and I was really liking it.
Didio's issues were very weak and felt completely different from the Outsiders. It felt very out of character for the book. Haven't picked it up since the first couple issues he wrote.
Not saying he can't be a good writer. Just saying that it doesn't match this book well.
I should be glad to see Batman back with the Outsiders.
But it is Didio's Outsiders.
For all the hype going on, one would think that Doomsday was appearing in the upcoming Superman flick; thus, I love Doomsday. I love the idea of Doomsday, and he has been a bitch to interesting but unwelcomed ideas.
Anything that can get this multiversal destroyer back on track is alright with me. And we all know Steel is alive.
Ugh, Batman in another book.
I was hoping the Outsiders would tie more to Superman. It's a interesting change.
Or, hey, let them be their own thing.
......I want to dislike Didio's OUTSIDERS, dang it, but something about it.....is either too weird to be bad, or it's so bad that it's actually good & readable.
Either way, I'm sticking with it.
Nice homage cover by Philip Tan to B&TO Vol.1 #1, BTW...
So can I take that cover to mean that Thunder and Grace are finally getting out of the coma and limbo respectively?
I haven't completely liked what's been going on in the book- I've been more interested in Geo-force's team, than Black Lightning's, and i really wanted BL and owlman to come back and unify the team. Batman's return could throw a monkey wrench into all of that. Not sure what the team will look like when all this is over, or if I'll still want to read the book.
People are reading this? Anyway, this Doomsday story was doomed from the start. And would somebody tell Didio that a weak selling title with terrible stories should NOT be published. Cancellation... please.

It wasn't the worst thing in the world the first time they split from Batman. They built up a good momentum on the book, gave the team and character some depth, and within a year or two they didn't really need Bats in the book anymore.
For nostalgia's sake, I guess it's fun to have Outsiders teaming with Batman every now and again, and I don't mind them being considered "extended" members of the Bat-family, but yeah...the Outsiders don't *need* Batman to be a good book. They just need a good creative team. :-)
