While Flashpoint sounds like some fun, (1) what is the over/under on big delays given the artist (and depending on the teams for the minis) and (2) does this mean the other regular monthly books won't be affected?
I'm hoping this is as fun as I think it'll be!
"That means full immersion in the event will cost readers a minimum of $149.50 at DC's current $2.99-a-comics price point. "
Do we even need to debate how ridiculous that is? On paper I like the idea of large events occurring that have ramifications across DC or Marvel's respective universes. If this is the way they feel they have to execute an event of this scope, well, I wish they'd just think smaller and produce better serieses generally.
I was happy when I heard that DC was keeping their price down to $2.99. It looks a lot less generous when they launch events like this, like they decided that it they can't sell higher margin individual books they'll just make it up in volume on lower priced books...
I'd probably be more enthusiastic about this if 1) I knew that it was independent of the regular ongoing serieses that I read, and 2) it wasn't required to read all of the minis to follow the the main story. Otherwise this just feels like a way to rope us into buying more comics.
Andy Kubert has been working on this since last year when Flash #1 debuted. As to the minis, they're probably with artists who can keep up the pace and have probably been working since last October or November. There weren't any delays with the minis for BN.
It's only an issue if you think you have to buy everything. Just buy what interests you. The only books that you might have to read to get the full effect are the ones by Geoff Johns, which would be the Flash and GL specific ones. I didn't have to read everything in BN and got the gist of it. I stuck with the Superman mini and the main series. Simple as that. If you're a Batman fan, read Batman. If you are a Teen Titans fan, read that mini.Originally Posted by charlieromeobravo

2. Who said that you had to read all of them? No one is forcing you to.
I'll pick up the main series... and maybe one or 2 minis. Overall, I am not too excited about this anymore. Which is a shame, considering how pumped I was after reading the last issue of Flash.
I liked the Flash Rebirth series and so continued with the Flash ongoing series. Seems to be a fun little title. Heard about this Flashpoint event coming up and thought "A second Flash series for a special event? Okay cool."
15 miniseries? No way man, I'm out. Flash books dropped as of now.
Did you forget that Legion of 3 Worlds was announced five months before the first issue hit and then took nearly a year to come out, or the delays in Dark Knight and Batman, Inc. and Batwoman already, the delays Marvel has had with Ultimate X and various titles as well? :-)
My point is that just because it's been teased for a while, both DC and Marvel have a tendency of soliciting things without having many things in the can resulting in delays, especially involving traditionally slower artists and/or writers.
And we've heard "So and So has been working on this for months, so he'll be ready" many times before only to find out there are VERY broad definitions of "working on." Blackest Night was the tightest in recent memory from either company as far as linewide crossover events go and the few delays were of a week or so at most.

Who's going to buy all of it anyway ?15 miniseries? No way man, I'm out.
Main title and some minis about the characters you like, that's all, period, nothing more.
Most likely, these three-issue mini-series will replace ongoing books for the duration of this Flashpoint storyline. While that might be annoying, I love the name of these books.
DEADMAN AND THE FLYING GRAYSONS
FRANKENSTEIN & THE CREATURES OF THE UNKNOWN
LOIS LANE AND THE RESISTANCE
EMPEROR AQUAMAN
Those sound pretty damn great.
Techcitement is an online tech magazine. The term techcitement is defined by the feeling that comes over you when discovering new (or even old and unfamiliar) tech. Techcitement also relates to the idea of any use of technology that proves to be interesting, from politics to social media to fitness. If a story excites us, we want to share it with you. [I co-own this and act as EIC of this, so check it out.]
Wasn't the deal supposed to be that these minis REPLACED other DCU titles for the duration of the event? So maybe this isn't 15 minis over and above the titles you buy now. Hopefully the regular creative teams will continue and you just keep buying the books you already buy. Just with different titles. Maybe. A few exceptions, obviously. So which new titles are replacing which old titles?
