I just got two Joost Swarte books from a used bookstore... can't read 'em. They're in Dutch. Still, cool to have.

Despite not having raised a huge sum of money on the Indiegogo campaign, the Peter Pan Omnibus was sent to the printers a week ago and should be ready in time for the BD & Comics Passion 2013 festival in London at the Institut Français. Seems like I'll be around the area that weekend, so will try to make it, to get a book or two by Régis Loisel signed. Also present there will be François Boucq, the artist on Bouncer and a couple other French artists who'll be signing books and doing live drawings. There'll even be a wine connoisseur

I'm desperate to get my hands on his famous Shakespeare trilogy. The images I see on the internet are extraordinary and highly innovative, and a clear evolution of his style since his work on Il Commissario Spada, which is very good too.

Losing Fred was a huge hit against the comic scene... The man is a master of the medium and pushed the medium to great heights; he is unmatched.

    RIP

Yes, I was very sad when I read the news, to lose such a great talent that had contributed so much to comics.

When I first read Philemon I was flabbergasted, it was unlike any other comic book I had ever seen. The range of techniques he uses, the way he plays with layouts, and his interest in meta-textuality are quite impressive. When I saw your post of Shintaro Kago's art, I thought he was an artist who was clearly taking Fred's innovations even further; it's good to know we still have such artists interested in pushing the envelope.

So much good comics already mentioned. Just to add some that I've read that's haven't been mentioned

Trigan Empire by the great Don Lawrence. It's in English so you don't have to learn new language. Set in another planet called Elekton, populated by humanoid people. The culture was very much like the Roman Empire

    Agent 212
Really funny Belgian comics about a life of a regular police officer. He always find himself in unfortunate situations and he always finds a way to either make it worse and somehow lucked his way out of it in a hilarious way.

    Yakari
A Sioux boy who can talk to animals and finds himself in adventures with his trusty horse

Also more well known comics such as Steven Strong.
Paul Scholes | A (late) Tribute to Ole Solskjaer | Zidane

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

The first kickstarter should be up any day now for The Leaning Girl. Check a video for that title below. The book is pretty much done/translated already and will be printed at the same size and high quality standards as the Casterman editions and by the same printer. There will be a regular paperback edition, but also a limited edition hardcover with signed bookplate and even a slipcase edition. After The Leaning Girl the next titles to be published in the series will be:
    • Leaning Mary Summer (Fall 2013)
    • The Shadow of A Man (Fall 2013)
    • The Grain of Sand Theory (Spring 2014)

After Alaxis Press has released all the previously untranslated works they will be releasing new editions of the books previously published by NBM. Also check out the website if you want to know more: http://www.theobscurecities.com/home/

The Kickstarter campaign for The Leaning Girl is up. The 176-page book will printed in its original dimensions at the same printer as the European editions are printed and is available for just $30. Check the campaign site for more info on the story and preview artwork.
