Default CBR: Marvel Runs Early With "Fantastic Four" #587

In anticipation of a mass media push for the issue where one of the team is killed off, Marvel Comics is allowing retailers to sell "Fantastic Four" #587 on Tuesday of next week, one of a number of changes allowed by early shipping.

I'm looking forward to this issue, but cannot make the early trip to get it, which normally isn't a big deal, but now I feel I won't be able to be surprised because even if I stay away from here, some news source is going to blow it between Tuesday and Wednesday, just like with Captain America dying. (the day that issue came out, I got several texts before 10 am EST about it from friends who saw it on the news and, knowing I was a huge fan, wanted to know what I thought)

I hope LCS retailers take into account not every person is going to make a special trip to get this book and don't sell all their copies on Tuesday to "speculators". I know my guy won't, but I can see it happening in other areas.

Why is a big deal being made about this story? Was a big deal made when the Thing died a few years ago?

Maybe because this isn't something that's going to be handled a handful of issues later like Ben's "death" was? Maybe because this IS a different story and intends to have long lasting effects, regardless of whether it actually succeeds in that down the line or not?
