Kinda a shame Cobra Commander's dead, given that he's so unexplored, but the fallout sure looks interesting...

I don't think it was the real CC. I think it was a body double pose as him. He's too smart to let this happen. He seems to be a guy always a step ahead of everyone.

If it doesn't end with Serpentor getting shot in the head with an arrow, then it's no Cobra Civil War.

But seriously, GI JOE: COBRA has just been staggeringly good, so I have no doubt this will be awesome.

I agree I don't think it's that easy enough to kill the main leader that way.

I mean there's bound to be a catch.

Also something tells me that Chuckles better watch his back when he's around either Snake-eyes or Stormshadow in the future, given their connections to Jinx and how Chuckles killed her.

this is the most consistent book on the stands. Costa, Fusso and Gage don't get enough credit for just how great this book is. it blows away most of the titles from the big 2 every month.

    bravo gentlemen, bravo...

Bravo, indeed, Chris. G.I. Joe: Cobra is the best book on the stands that most comic fans aren't reading. IDW has done a fantastic job with their Joe books and I urge anyone who isn't reading these titles to check them out.

I'm taking them at their word that he's kicked bucket. There isn't much emotional attachment to this particular Cobra Commander. He didn't build Cobra. He was just elected. And he's had very little page time. Besides, the duplicate idea is so cliche that it wouldn't have any impact.

Man, Chuckles can't catch a break. First he's forced to kill his lover, then he starts a Civil War in Cobra that results in attacks on GI Joe.

    Sucks to be him.

I fear Chuckles is way beyond worrying about catching a break at this point. He seems to be a single-minded engine of revenge at this point. However, his shout out of "Yo Joe" just before the kill shot shows he's still holding true to the cause.

I must admit, as much as I dislike relaunches, I'm glad that they'll be giving us a jumping on point. I lost track of the GI Joe books and have been wanting to get back into them lately.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.

On the one hand I didn't expect it will happen and Cobra Civil War looks interesting, on the other I was beginning to like this Cobra Commander. Shame he was killed so quickly (how many issues he is in? 3?) without showing more of what he is capable of.

I grew up with the Hama comics and toyline from grade school on up - its just too damn cool to see a GI Joe comic title that grew up with its audience. Im still shocked, amazed, and highly appreciative that Hasbro has the guts to let IDW go forward with stories like this (and all of the Cobra run actually). They understand a certain (probably huge) part of their audience has the exact GI Joe fandom background as me. Sophisticated, smart, gritty, and just flat out rad stuff.

One of the best GIJoe scenes ever in Cobra #12 - maybe THE best.
"Chuckles. As promised, your enemy is before you. Kill him"
    "Sure thing.
    Yo Joe."
    "What?"
    *BLAM*

Everthing in the Cobra book since the IDW launch was building to that moment and it was executed perfectly! BADASS!

Im wondering if the relaunch is to reign the overall tone in of the books towards the Cobra book - as it has been clearly head and shoulders above the rest.

    Default Great twist

    SPOILERS.......................................... .................................................. ..............................................
Good job...I did not see that coming at all. GI Joe: Cobra is by far the best of IDW's Joe titles.

I like that Cobra Commander is a title and that there have been multiple over time. I'd love to read a miniseries about the first person to be called Cobra Commander.

"Season Two", starting in April, is tailor-made for readers just like you, Ben.

Totally agree, man. And well-stated. The COBRA series truly is a version of G.I. Joe that grew up along with the rest of us.

That was an awesome moment. Probably the best of the entire IDW run so far.

G.I. Joe editor Andy Schmidt said that "Season Two" will tone down the sci-fi elements like the MASS Device. I'm sure COBRA's tone will remain (why mess with a great thing?) and I suspect the main title and SNAKE EYES will be a little more straight military action. I know the books will be more interconnected than previously, however they will retain their own identities.
