I know it might be meant to be artsy, but I hope they do something about that logo. As it stands it looks like it says "He Mighty Thor!"
Hope "Journey into Mystery" isn't left to quickly die while the new title gets all the attention, kind of like "Director of SHIELD" did when "Invincible Iron Man" became the only IM book Marvel cared about. I love that title for a comic in general, so I'm okay with the title change... even though, inevitably, we'll be seeing Thor #700 in a few years. :P
they just relaunched Thor for 12 issues before renumbering to original numbering at 600, only to relaunch againI hate when companies do this. i think its much more confusing, especially tracking down older issues. if i see a title with high issue count i know its been around a while, as opposed to a new number 1 every few years, to me that lacks consistency.
Marvel: ASM, Deadpool, Thor, Iron Man, etc
DC: Batman and related, Green Lantern, The Flash, etc
Omnibus wishlist: Classic Deadpool, Pak Hulk, Spider-Man 2099
Couldn't be bothered to keep "Thor: The Mighty Avenger," but they have no problem launching another entirely new Thor series. Gutless and greedy.
Meanwhile, the kiddies aren't gonna understand a title like "Journey Into Mystery." This ain't 1964.
...so confusing and desperate. ah well, hope it works out for them and it all reads well in trade, because there's no way I'd keep up with this in singles.
· agree that the logo does read as "He Mighty Thor." Graphic design fail.
· nice to see Coipel back on Thor, all things considered. he must really like the world and character. I'd bet its for one arc, though.
· I'm going to assume one or both of these will be $3.99, past the first issue, too.
· since Marvel is so comfortable putting out a ton of Thor material for the movie, would it really have killed them to let Thor: The Mighty Avenger finish its storyline? That book was very "civilian" friendly.

$3.99 IS TOO MUCH FOR A COMIC!
one 3.99 Thor title is enough for me to buy. Going to be a hard choice when that time comes but I will probably go with Gillen's book even though I love Coipel. His run blew Fraction's out of the water so far.
Good to see Gillen is getting back on Thor. I've really enjoyed Fraction's run so far and that's a hell of an art team on the Thor books. Good to see Coipel back as well as Ferry staying on board. This is all good with me.
Mighty will definitely be $4, but I can see Journey being $3. Remember, they did lower Thor to $3 when Gillen took over for JMS.

The good: Coipel is coming back. Gillen is also coming back to write a Thor series. I am not a big fan of Doug's art, but I can tolerate it.
The Bad: I am not looking forward to "Galactus vs. Asgard" under Fraction. This is a storyline that would have to be done delicately to make sure neither side looks like chumps and Fraction's work so far on the series has not convinced me he could pull it off. Few writers can capture the majesty of Asgard or Galactus let alone both at the same time.
I find it amazing the amount of lamenting and grief everyone has for what is apparently the greatest comic ever, Thor: The Mighty Avenger. The comic didn't sell. No matter all the accolades and reviews it got, it failed to sell. Make up whatever blame you like towards Marvel, but everyone should give some thanks that the comic even got approved in the first place.
Now, where is my pitchfork and torch, because I got to join in on the outcry against Marvel for two Thor books!
This sort of move really pisses me off. I am so tired of reboots, relaunches, renumberings and all other attempts to make comics more accessible to new readers.
You wanna capitalize on upcoming movies and drawn new readers in and keep them reading?
1. Then create comics that tell clear concise stories that allow for any reader, be they new to comics or wily veterans of the culture, to jump on or off at any point with the least amount of effort.
2. Have only 1 title for Iron Man, 1 title for Thor, 1 title for The Hulk, or Avengers, or X-Men or Wolverine. Then fill the gaps left by the copy-cat titles with books for other awesome characters like Dr. Strange, The Falcon or Black Widow.
3. Assign the great talent that was wasted on the copy-cat books to the new titles.
4. Lastly, do away with the 4-5 'Big Events' a year that suck any extra money (or will to live) a comic buyer might have.
Do those things, and the comic industry might just be a little more stable and we might see a welcomed increase in our ever-dwindling readership.
Thanks,

As much as I love Coipel's art...and I do, immensely, I absoultely refuse to purchase anything written by he-who-must-never-be-named.

Wood nailed her. Like only good Wood could.
I'm just happy Travis Charest is back and doing art again. Covers for now and hopefully a book soon.
