Default New Thor ongoing by Fraction in April!

Me and Matt Fraction talk about his new ongoing, The Mighty Thor, starting in April with the first arc drawn by Olivier Coipel!

Hm, interesting...it's like another iHerc/Hulk switch where "Thor" returns to "Journey Into Mystery" and Thor spins off into his own title.

From the article, am I correct in understanding that Coipel and Ferry will share art duties on this title, and Gillen's "Journey" is left artistless?

Yeah I think the biggest news here is the return of Gillen on Thor.

Now the question is, can Thor support 2 titles?

Fraction and gillen both writing Thor books, surely this can only be a good thing? Apart from the obvious extra money needed each month

    Cool stuff.

I wasn't at all a fan of Gillen's run, and "The Mighty Thor" somehow seems a cheat after the great 'The Mighty Avenger' title, but I'm going to give both "Journey Into Mystery" and "The Mighty Thor" a shot.

And the Galactus seed sounds promising -- with Thor vs Silver Surfer an absolute classic that I hope Fraction can put an interesting spin on. In the classic Stan Lee/Buscema meeting, it was clear that Thor was the more powerful, and then again in Blood and Thunder (terrible). What, I wonder, will Fraction bring to the table? Perhaps something other than a physical conflict?

He's already been supporting (albeit poorly) somewhere in the vicinity of 5 at the moment, right? Thor, Thor the Mighty Avenger, Thor: First Thunder, Astonishing Thor, Thor: For Asgard, and then Iron Man/Thor, plus spin offs like Warriors Three.

As always, it depends on the quality of the series, but if a character like Green Lantern can support 4 books I'm sure Thor can do two.

Didn't see this coming at all. I guess it makes sense. They want to have a new #1 for when the movie comes out. Little confused though. Does this Galactus Seed story tie into Fear Itself?
And its nice to FINALLY have Coipel back on a monthly.

Coipel back on "The Mighty Thor" is the BEST thing of 2011 SO FAR! (at least in comics )
And if you add Pasqual Ferry's there too, it will be epic! (artistically, at least)

I think Journey into Mystery is supposed to tie into Fear Itself (Gillen mentions it in that interview Ben Morse linked to). Galactus Seed is something else...

I read this like Fear itself is a Thor event more so than a Marvel universe event?

Fraction said on some interviews that "Fear Itself" was born as a Cap-Thor story that got bigger and bigger until it turned into a line-wide event. So it spins out of some developments on both "Captain America" and "Thor"..

Oh, wow. Galactus vs. Asgard and the return of Olivier Coipel? I'm there. Hopefully it'll be better written than Fraction's current Thor work.
