Hmm. I never thought of Kyle Rayner as being a Marvel-type character, but now that I look at him like that I totally get that.
I love these articles. I agree with building (or researching and the rebuilding) a character is a better aproach. Too many writers use their comics as excuses for "million dollar shots", instead of focusing in making us care.
Great article!
I myself am very much into the "extraordinary people doing extraordinary things" camp of stories.
An entire arc (5-6 issues) of Superman stopping a bank robbery would indeed be a great challenge for a writer to make interesting.

Cool, a shelf life forum. It is easy to find now, but you can't find the article off the columns tab. It used to be there, but not anymore.
I completely forgot about Shinku. Looking forward to some actual vampires!
Great article, great insights, thanks!
Agreed, agreed, and agreed.
I still prefer your Kyle Rayner to Hal. Thankfully, he's still around (although I'd love to see him back on earth more).
Great observation about Morrison too!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and time!
Thanks for the feedback thus far. Much appreciated.
Feel free to ask questions if you have 'em.
