    Default Favorite Batman Elseworld Story

What is your favorite Elseworld story featuring Batman?

For me it has to be Gotham By Gaslight. It was one of the very 1st Batman trade paperback that I ever got along with Year One so it has a special place to me.

But, I also love it cause of the story of having Batman during the time of Jack The Ripper and going up against him.

    Uh, Dark Knight Returns?

    If not, Batman Year 100.

People will get mad at me for this, but the first two Batman/Superman: Generation Series. First comic I ever read with a real form of continuity, so I'm nostalgiac for it (I was 2 mind you)

Not counting The Dark Returns (since that is considered almost more than an) I have only really read Batman: Thrillkiller which is really good. I heard that Batman: Vampire is really good, which I have just bought, and Batman: Gotham By Gaslight, Batman: Nine Lives, and Batman: Castle of the Bat are supposed to be really good as well.

i like these stories from Moench and Jones a lot too. I would count them to my favorite Bat stories overall. And of course this one:

It's hilarious, i love it and Jim Balent is of course the perfect choice.

Are we talking any out of continuity stories or just Elseworlds?

If it's anything out of continuity then The Dark Knight Returns. If we're talking about genuine Elseworlds books then probably Holy Terror.

I was distinctly underwhelmed by the Moench/Kelly books.

I dislike most of the Elseworlds stories I've read because its not my Batman.

I hated Castle of the Bat and the Red Rain, Crimson Mist, and Nosterutu, they just seemed so... stupid.

I thought Gotham by Gas Light was only okay.

The ones I like are the more Batmanish...
Like Year 100 and Dark Knight Returns
I also like All Star Batman and Robin
But I don't think they have the Elseworlds tag.

I also think most of the TPB's that I like the most are close to continuity, like Gotham County Line, Batman vrs Aliens I, Planetary Batman, and Tenses.

BUT There are so many that I haven't read yet.

    I just thought of one...
    I REALLY like,

Batman and Tarzan Claws of the Catwoman,

I don't think it has a Elseworlds tag but it was a awesome story that included Tarzan and the art was fantastic.

It indeed did have the Elseworlds tag, and yes, it was fantastic.

    I'll also list:

    The Red Rain trilogy.
Batman/Lobo by Grant and Bisley (utterly idiotic, but that's what made it so great and hilarious).
The Batman of Arkham by Grant and Alcatena.
The Detective Comics annual by Dixon and Alcatena with Pirate Batman.
Superman: Speeding Bullets (hey, it's a Batman story more than a Superman one!).
The Batman/Captain America crossover by Byrne.

The Dark Knight Returns is not an Elseworld to me, its an essential Batman story. Its how the future of Batman story should end if it was one story/GN and not part of a neverending superhero series.

Batman Year 100 was decent, was fugly artwise so i never read it whole. Pope is good enough artist but as Batman artist not good at all.

Batman:Nine Lives with Michael Lark art and noir story was a fun, good read.

    Batman:Scar of the Bat
was okay, the setting fit Batman live a glove, like he was a part of the Untoucables film.

I loved The Red Son version of Batman and think it could have carried it's own spinoff prequel mini-series, with the guy he's after sending Red Son versions of the Bat-Rogues after him. Siberian Mister Freeze for instance?
