I swear this was used before, or at least solicited.

I think it's one of his best. I love the idea of taking a different angle/perspective with a classic. I only wish he costume were more clear/well lit. I get that it's more ominous and evocative but the costume says Superman all that much better.

It was supposed to be the cover for Superman #676, before the story originally slated for that one was shelved.

One of the things I loved about Cornell's Captain Britain and MI13 is that in one page he showed how important or how strong of a connection Cap. Britain has with his own country that when he was blown up after attempting to divert a missle fired by the Skrulls, in one page they showed how everyone in Britain of all ethinicity reacted (or more like they felt his demise) he came back to life of course but still that was a really touching scene, he would be great to write for Superman (without blowing him up though).

It wasn't that schmaltzy. He had already set up Avalon as the embodiment of the British collective unconscious. Cap was just as much part of the British mindset, he is what it means to be British so when he was attacked British people felt it. I liked that it showed being British wasn't about a passport, it was in the 'soul'.

Brilliantly crafted, its just a crap picture, for something like 900, it should be iconic or symbolic... this isn't

I like Alex Ross' art a lot. I really do. It's just, lately, he hasn't done any art pieces that have blown me away. Including this one.

I never liked Alex Ross's art, and this reaffirms that.

I've definitely seen this before. But it's still great from the always reliable Ross. But I think on this occasion, Finch may have him beat.

I actively dislike this cover. Something about the composition... maybe it would have been more interesting from BEHIND Superman...?
