Interesting in stating that even Babs has something to be scared of with the return of James Gordon JR.![]()
Rule # 1 of comics drama. (Even for an average Joe like Gordon ...)
If one of your kids is a super-hero ... the other is a villain. Sorry, Jimbo.
"Everything hs changed. ‘Dark’ entertainment now looks like hysterical, adolescent, ‘Zibarro’ crap." - Morrison, 2008.

Why did you have to bring him back for the sake of melodrama? Cheap shot.
He could have gone to college and lead a happy and healthy life away from Gotham and its usual psychopathic tendencies.
Not necessarily. What keeps Snyder's use of James Jr in context, is that the character has had two severely traumatic experiences in his life at a young age. We don't even know for sure whether James is exhibiting actual psycho/sociopathic behaviors yet either, we just get circumstantial inferences from Babs and Gordon. I think it can be plainly said that even those two don't truly know, but are nonetheless scared of him.
So at play, you have whether he or isn't psychologically disturbed--and if he is, did his near death experiences twist him or was he already twisted? Snyder's touching at nature vs nurture in an interesting way, instead of the 'oh he's the son of villain' eugenics trope.
