Me too.I felt so dissapointed that 2 of my favourite villains(Ock and Hobgoblin) were 2099 versions and not old school 616.

I can't believe Marvel's lack of imagination.Dr Octopus is in 616 universe,the top nuclear scientist.He would be a successfull weapon dealer,selling nuclear knowledge and materials to "rogue states" and terrorist organisation.Considering his knowledge in nuclear science and the fear of the major nuclear powers about the spreading of nuclear knowledge to other competitors,Ock could elevate himself into one of the most dangerous men alive.

In Stan Lee's day, he was often referred to as one of the most dangerous men alive. Actually when you look at the progress of Ock's appearances in those first 100 or so issues of Amazing, every time Ock appeared he was more dangerous than his previous appearance, forcing Peter to up his game all the time.

Considering his genius level intellect and his metal tentacles,he is a dangerous individual.Definetely,the most dangerous person Spiderman has in his villains gallery.It was clear that Stan Lee planned Ock to be Spiderman's "Dr Doom".It was storyline's developement that made Green Goblin equal and later Spiderman's number one foe(yet Goblin is a personal nemesis,Ock is a man wider from personal emnities and plan that put millions of life in danger).

My thoughts about a modern use of Ock was(as i post above)making Ock giving nuclear tech and knowledge to rogue states and terrorist groups(like Ultimatum or Watchdogs)for money,power,influence and recognisation of his genius.Considering the fact that USA,Russia,GB etc fear other countries to achieve nucleat capacity and entering into their closed club,a super-villainous nuclear scientist(who happens to be the top on his field)would definetely be a worldwide political boogeyman.

I wasn't. Doc Ock 2099 was, basically, the same Ock as the original, only a different person and a bit more "Foe Yay". She had Otto's arrogance, ego, genius, tentacles, and the redunkulous belief that giant nuclear reactors=world domination. If anything, I was disappointed that she didn't just use the tentacles to smack Spidey around, or better yet, the infamous "Bitch Slap".

Also, just had a random thought: Now that MODOK has been depowered, would anyone like to see Doc Ock take over AIM?

The best stories of Ditko's run, and therefore some of the best Spider-Man stories ever, all involved him pit against his greatest villain.

From Doc Ock's intro, to unmasking Spider-Man, to founding the Sinister Six, to becoming the Master Planner...

Later on he'd be there for the death of Captain Stacy and then have that epic gang war with the Owl.

All high among the best Spider-Man stories ever.

Also, just had a random thought: Now that MODOK has been depowered, would anyone like to see Doc Ock take over AIM?

I would prefer Octavius re-using his gang that he had during the "Master Planner","Nullifier" and "Ock-Owl Gang War".I mean,they had their own uniforms and they fit into Marvel's colorfull criminal organisations mold.
