I've actually seen Sea Monkeys being sold in the Toys R Us Express in the local mall. I'm rather tempted to buy some because of how much I love the old "junk culture" nature of comic books and their ads.

I purchased the 3&3/4" "super posable" Spidey from the movie line. He's okay, but the others just didn't do anything for me. And I agree that magnet feet would be nice. I have a Toy Biz Spidey from several years back that has magnets on his feet stuck on my fridge. He needs some buddies to hang out with him.
Hi Dave2739!! I agree about the Amazing Spider-Man figures. I was thinking them last night when reading comics. In the build up to the new movie, I thought there would be some cool figures released but most of them are downright ugly in design (which could help explain why they arent being snapped up by people at stores in large numbers). Even heavy discounting at stores I have been to, hasnt made much of a difference. I was hoping to buy a posable 12inch figure for not alot of money, but havent seen any sadly. Still the upside, is that there are some cool-looking Star Wars figures out in stores like those deleted blu-ray scene figures which have proved enormously popular with fans and the casual public.
Hi to you, zryson! I wish the movie Avengers Black Widow and Hawkeye were as plentiful as the new Star Wars figs. I've been looking for those for a few months to no avail.
Hi Dave2739 -- you bring up an interesting point. About why some figures are easier to find than others. I read a letter from a store person who worked at one of the major retailers years ago and he wrote into the comic addressing why people can find some figures and not others and basically his answer was that as a person who worked at the store, he and others would open the boxes and then get first dibs on the figures they wanted. And as some figures werent as popular as others, they wouldnt be manfacturered in the same amount, so after the staff had their share, and put aside the rarer figures they wanted, there would be none left (or at least, very few left) for the public when they came into the store to look for certain figures.
Target have an exclusive Batman Dark Knight Rises toy pack which includes Bane, Caped Crusader Batman, Bruce Wayne, Stealth Vision Batman and Catwoman.
Meanwhile, ToysRUs, have an exclusive Batman vs Bane 2-pack in the Movie Masters range.
As luck would have it, I found the pesky movie version of Hawkeye today, just a day after posting that I had no luck finding it. Still no luck with Black Widow.

Apparently, he was responsible for a lot of the goofy products sold in 1970s comic book ads.
Now, I'm not sure you can really invent brine shrimp (what sea monkeys really are). However, he probably figured out the way to essentially freeze dry their eggs (or whatever it is) for shipment and market them to impressionable comic reading children.

I'm seeing that my childhood was a lot more recent than some of you guys.. but it was the same for me.
My favorite toy, and probably the coolest toy I've ever had, was flexible Spider-Man. It came out during the 90s because of the animated series.. it had so many articulating joints, it was amazing. They based the toy for the first spider-man movie off of it, just updated the costume. Same joints. It was the perfect spider-man toy
Nowadays I don't buy toys anymore but I do collect statues. I can't leave my entire childhood behind, but I know if I bought toys I wouldn't play with them, so the statues fill the void. And I refuse to buy busts. They have to be full statues.

When I think of fave toys over the years Batman, Superman and Star Wars rank up at the top of the list. I remember my cousin had lots of toys. He was into Marvel Superheroes. Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America. He also liked those KISS dolls - you know, the rock band. I didn't understand his fascination with Marvel Superheroes. But I remember they were extremely prevalent when it came to merchandising. There were of course, the action figures (some more articulated than others) but also stamps, stickers, posters, bags, etc.
If I had to dream up my fave Spider-Man figure I would really like one styled like those Mego Magnetic Batman and Robin. Have it boxed in vintage packaging with several costumes and magnets on the hand and feet so you can hang him from different surfaces (like on the fridge or wall). For Superman, my favorite all-time figure is probably the SuperPowers range Superman but I also really like the Mego 8" Superman figure. I didn't care too much for the 12" version. It didnt look as good, having a different type of sculpt.
Bought this Batman: The Dark Knight Rises action figure recently.

When I was a little kid in the early 1980s I had some of those old Pocket Heroes. I had some of the Marvel ones and DC ones. I still have the Jor El Pocket Hero figure and its still in great shape too. I also used to have a Lex Luthor one where he wore some outfit I guess he wore on the old Super Powers cartoon.
