Picked this up on a recent visit to one of the local toy stores, and it was a good thing I did because when I went back not so long ago the star wars range had been decimated once again.

lando's cape seems impossibly long. not sure if it fits properly when you take it out of the box but looking at it, he would be tripping all over the place with a cape that long flowing around him.

i have to give kenner credit for how they market the star wars vintage figures. its a clever strategy; having a pic of the original actor from the film on the right side and then the figure, in identical outfit on the left in clear bubble. plus you have that classic star wars logo at the top of the packaging.

I'm not sure if you're aware or not, but that is absolutely identical packaging to how the original Star Wars figures were sold back in the late '70s and early '80s. Kenner are basically attempting to milk the nostalgia factor within the adult collectors market with that vintage reissues series. Here's a vintage Klaatu figure from 1983 for comparison...

    MY PULL LIST
All-Star Western • Avenging Spider-Man • Hit-Girl • Lady Mechanika • Road To Oz • Sherlock Holmes: The Liverpool Demon • Superior Spider-Man • Star Wars • Star Wars: Dark Times

thanks for the pic -- and yeah its definitely milking the nostalgia but they also update, using new sculpts for the figures. i wish dc and marvel would do something similar. imagine walking into a store and seeing a range of superman toys with classic curt swan or george perez art. or seeing christopher reeve on the packaging and in the classic superman costume! same if they did a line of batman adam west and burt ward robin figures - nice sculpts, make the costumes look good, and have a nice packaging to complement it. would be very popular i think.

bought this at toysrus during my last trip out there. good value i think for $10 -- the packaging is nice too, though i cant see a power battery which is a shame as it would have been awesome to see a lighted up battery

I'm not into action figures at all, but I've gotta admit that that does look pretty authentic. The manufacturers have obviously gone to a fair bit of trouble to make it correct in every detail.

Still, I'm a Star Wars pedant and I'm gonna make one slight criticism...aren't Luke's fatigues a little too light and a little too clean? They should be slightly darker in my view and also covered in crap -- Luke had been messing about in the Dagobah swamps in that outfit, let's not forget.

Here, compare a production still from the movie...

they are releasing two figures in the set - the second one (seen in the following post) is the more battered version - missing his hand, and with a dirtier costume, he also has battle scars.

if money wasn't a consideration i would probably get that figure. but as money is tight, its out of my price range - looks like the duo set will be around the $300 mark or more (depending on retailer).

stopped by toysrus today and had a nice time but its amazing how many toys have damage to their packaging on the racks. people often think if its new on the racks it must be mint condition but any visit to a toy store proves otherwise.
