DC and Marvel could learn quite a few things from Archie.

I haven't seen any solicits, but does anyone know if they'll be collecting the "Life With Archie" stories in trade? And if so, how?

Absolutely. I picked an issue out of curiosity and was hooked. Definitely the most fun I had read a comic in quite a while. Paul Kupperberg has done an outstanding job of scripting the stories. And these are beyond any doubt the best deal going in comics -- $3.99 for 2 24-page stories. More comics should go to this format.

Isn't that only in the Life With Archie (What If?/Elseworlds) Universe? The regular Archie U seems to be the same as it has been since the dawn of comics.

You say that as if DC and Marvel aren't. They do cater mainly to 45 year old neckbearded geeks after all.

Considering that Marvel and DC are stuck in 90's crossover and multiple covers mania, Archie is still a few years ahead of them even being "behind the times."

Well, if Ms Grundy dies, then who is going to replace her as teacher? According to the New York Times article,

Ms. Grundy’s death inspires changes in her former students’ lives: Archie and Betty join the teaching staff and Reggie decides to stop being Veronica’s boy toy and starts working at a newspaper (newspapers still exist in this possible future).
So what would happen to the storyline for harmless teenagers having a little romantic fun? If Archies is going to get serious, this could open the way for a new independent publisher to do such stories.
