Well, Diggle at least tried to make some sense in his recent writing. I mean even Frank Miller or Kevin Smith or even Brian Micheal Bendis didn't kill Bullseye when it came to the deaths of Elektra or Karen Page.
So at least FINALLY someone had the guts to do the deed.
Yet, I wonder how Matt would feel when he learns that Shadowland was partly the Kingpin's fault as well ?![]()
Well I'm glad someone finally admitted that Bullseye is a monster and not an anti hero.
As for cleaning the slate for the next writer thats never really true since continuity will always follow the character no matter what but I applaud his efforts.

"'Shadowland' was really just going to be an arc of my regular run on the title."
I think this explains a lot.
The Devil's Hand started out quite well, so let's hope Reborn can end this run on a good note.
Sounds like the Shadowland deal was an editorial push maybe??

I agree, napafish77. Reading between the lines it does seem as if Diggle was also maybe not fully on board with Matt taking over The Hand, but this was what he was given to work with.
I feel bad for Diggle since I thought his run was pretty good, but will be remembered for the drawn-out Shadowland mini-series abomination which was a story he originally intended to tell in a Daredevil arc. This would've probably been better received judging from the quality of the main Daredevil title versus Shadowland.

I think a lot of events develop that way. Bendis originally planned SI as something that would occur in the New Avengers. Nothing wrong with taking a idea and trying to make it bigger. I don't think the story would have been all that much different if it was just in the DD book.
CaptainAmerica Avengers NewAvengers UncannyAvengers Wolverine&theX-Men Hawkeye GuardiansOfTheGalaxy AllNewX-Men UncannyX-Men
But does that negate the quality of the issues? In DD or as an event, I don't see how that would've changed much besides maybe the guest stars. The story was still very generic and predictable (even in this interview Diggle thought he was going to surprise with the Beast reveal ...) and I don't think it being a so-called event changed that.
I really wanted to see Diggle take the idea of Matt as the leader of this super cool, deadly, internationally connected ninja assault clan to new heights, but it felt like Shadowland was soooo rushed. I would like to have seen what would have happened without editorial interuption.
Live Comics. Love Comics.

Totally agree. I didn't mind it, but it really felt like we had just had him become their leader and then immediately descend into madness/darkness.
Would have been great to see him actually, seemingly use the Hand for good, and gradually see his judgment clouded from white, to gray and finally black - to make it seem like it was just his moral compass getting corrupted by the power and ability. Then the reveal that it was the Beast would have been a bit more of a shocker. Trick us into thinking it was all Matt succumbing gradually to the-end-justifying-the-means-mentality, then whamo, hit us with the reveal, and make it a reveal for Matt too.
Man, Diggle confounds me. I love almost everything he's done, short of Shadowland. It didn't feel Diggle-y -- in fact, it felt as if Diggle was being controlled by an outside force -- no, not Marvel editorial...maybe..the Beast?
Waaaaait a minute -- maybe Diggle was trying to tell us something with Shadowland -- maybe DIGGLE is Daredevil and the BEAST is Marvel Editorial!!
Yes, that's it!!!
KIMOTAZAM!!

So who should be next writer?
If you want a top 5 book, bring back Frank Miller.....seriously.

So I'm guessing from this we get four or so issues of Daredevil Reborn and then he's taking his book back from Black Panther?
