If this is true, then 2010 is officially the most fucked up year ever!![]()

This strikes me a very much a non-story story. Fav's just doesn't know yet what the Marvel Universe in films will be after the Avengers. Nobody does as of yet. Uncertainty about what comes next does not equal a decision to not do IM 3.
Downey will likely rally behind his director and push to have Fav's back at the controls when they roll around to 3. But that is at least a year to 18 months away. Plenty of time for Favs to do the Magic Kingdom and then start thinking for real about Iron Man again.
Must be a slow comics movie news day.![]()

...will he at least still play Happy Hogan?
Eh, Comics is a pretty cool guy...
Really? Did you even read the article on CBR or Vulture? They're saying that Favreau is officially off this film. Doesn't mean things can't change -- that's true in any case -- but it does say he's not doing the third film in a series that MADE Marvel Studios as a company. (Keep in mind Marvel Studios first film was Iron Man, not Spider-Man or X-Men franchises.) This is news, whether you think so or not. Not a slow news day, either, if you looked at the rest of this site or countless other comics and film sites out there.
Really, at this point in time Favreau doesn't NEED Iron Man nor does Marvel NEED Favreau. Both are in such a position that maybe it is time for both to go in other directions. Favreau, as a director, is in an enviable position. Likewise for Marvel Studios.

That's not what Favreau said however. This is the video that they're referencing, and they're taking it COMPLETELY out of context. Seriously, watch the video. He says nothing of the sort. In fact, he repeatedly says he looking forward to it and is involved with Marvel on Avengers still. This is a complete non-story.
Might be time to bring in a new take. Hope they deliver on the Mandarin/Ten Rings thing, though...

$3.99 IS TOO MUCH FOR A COMIC!
HAPPY HOGAN better be back.
On the director side, the last thing Marvel wants is a reprise of what happened with Fox and the X-Men series when Bryan Singer left after the first 2.
I hope this isn't about money. I would have thought that when Disney purchased Marvel it meant the end to Marvel's reluctance to pay the talent.
Funny that I was just watching the "Making of Iron Man 2" on Blu-Ray just this past weekend too!
On the commentary Favraue mentioned he had time issues working on IM2, in fact they were behind schedule.
He also said that (jokingly) that ever since IM1, he's been living and breathing Iron Man for over 4 years non-stop, and maybe needs to take a break.
Could this be the break he forshadowed about?
I've always dug Favreau as an actor...and i liked what he did in both Iron Man films (yes, even the 2nd). That said, I don't know that i could say that he's so locked into this franchise that he's irreplaceable. I don't know that he has a style matched with IM the way that Chris Nolan has one with the new Bat flicks.
I would prefer the continuity of having him stay on. Plus i think he's earned it. But if he chooses not to stick with it and Marvel can bring in new blood that has Downey's blessing, I don't know that it would ever be akin to Batman Forever or X3.
Vulture is not sourcing MTV, they mention that interview to help back up their own source, but they have their OWN source for word that he's off the movie. Check the Vulture and CBR articles again. They have an outside source that says he's not directing and Deadline is confirming he's not directing the film. This is not the MTV story.

Man, that would stink if he couldn't play Happy HOgan anymore. I mean I loved his suppporting role in the previous Iron Man movies. Plust they did state that the Mandrin may appear within the film at last.
Say it isn't so.![]()
Ah, once again denial isn't just a river in Egypt. Favreau has been coopted by the rodent, and anybody who thinks a Marvel project is anything but a Disney project is depending too much on CBR for any type of reporting, so they just quote a bunch of other sites without a lick of analysis. Perfect site for the clueless fan.
