ummm.....makes me nervous for the book that no one has written about it yet. This was my favorite book of the week, anyone agree?

I haven't picked up my books this week, but this is certainly on the pull list. Loved the first issue and really looking forward to #2. People really should check this book out, its awesome!
i'm digging this book. cafu's art is fantastic. liking the development of lightning. looking forward to learning more about noman and menthor.

This is in my "this is rediculously good how can it last" category.
I liked the "subtracting years from your life" stuff with the lightning suit.
Edit: Who else thinks Toby is going to end up being Menthor?

A wonderfully written book.
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...
I had sworn off DC 'minor' books. I had sworn off DC's £3.99 books. But the promise of a $2.99 price, With the constant stream of praise being aimed at Nick Spencer, and with the exceptional artists doing guest sequences on the book I braved issue 1 and 2.
This book is incredible. Inteligently written, emotionallly charged.
I think T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents is my book of the year, and I'm actively trying to figure out how to make room for other Nick Spencer books on my pull list.
agreed. I never liked James Rhodes but find myself beyond excited for Iron Man 2.0! Supergirl may be the only book I pass from him and only because Bernard Chang does almost nothing for me.
Off topic, does anyone know where Ingle and Gates are heading?
The only question I have about Lighting is, isn't he going to die pretty damn soon? It seemed that it slowed down from years to weeks as he kept going but still, we shaved off, what, ten years already?

Awesome, awesome book. Great issue with fantastic art.
Lovin' it.
what i thought would happen, in the original comics Menthor was a double agent for The Warlord and when he put on the helmut he turned into a good guy.
i thought they'd do something like that.
or maybe some hardcore criminal and when he puts on the helmut he becomes a all around good guy?
This was ok, but definitely not what I was expecting. I was assuming we'd meet the team and see them work on a mission or something. Instead we got a well written character spotlight and backstory. I'm all for those, but as issue 2, it's a bit of a flow killer. Hopefully, we see more of this stuff with Spider and the team.
Two questions. Is this set in the DC universe or is it elseworlds? Also, do we know the red hair chick's name?
Nick writes great characters but he is horrible at world-building here and his plot is kinda meh so far.
I might read another few issues. I was kinda hoping this would be like DC's Secret Warriors.
Most of this issue was merely 'good'. Very competent, Warren Ellis-esque writing, replete with some quantum technobabble that you weren't MEANT to understand, fast talking witty young characters, essentially good men with a terrible mistake in their past, etc. It did it all well, but it wasn't really groundbreaking.
But then they showed exactly HOW the suit 'takes years off your life', the manifestation of that side effect, and the book crossed into 'brilliant'. Really, REALLY inventive stuff there, the only time I've ever seen it done like that, and I was literally blown away by the concept of it.
Amazing.
The art was, as always, great. CAFU is the new Cassady, and I'm glad that they are recognizing early on that he isn't capable of doing a full book's work of art, and that they are starting him with 'fill ins' early and organically. My guess is that he would have been able to do the first few issues on his own, at least, but instead they are putting in other artists where it is appropriate and giving him a solid lead time to draw the stories that are meant to be drawn by him.
I cannot get over how great a choice Criss Cross was for his section of the book. I've long been saying that Cross is the best 'motion' artists out there, second maybe only to Walt Simonson, but to see it echoed in the choices of the editor was very gratifying and very effective! I loved it!
Could not be happier with how this turned out.
Like every previous THUNDER Agents run, this won't last long. But I'm in for this run. Who knows, maybe DC will really commit to it in spite of low sales, like they did with Jonah Hex.

Yeah, I just checked out first issue sales, and they are very disconcerting....

I'll be picking this up regardless, because it's a great book, and I urge you to do the same. 5 years from now Spencer and CAFU are going to be super stars, and you can say you were in on the ground floor of one of their earliest and most impressive works.
i freaking love gary frank's cover for this issue.
