I should finally get my copy of Pain and Prejudice in the next few days, yeaaah!.

I was reading about the issue and there was one reviewer who thought Mrs. Cobblepot might be dead and Ozzy is just keeping her around. Does the issue hint at that at all? Only because that sounds horrible.

Nah I don't think that's the case, but I wouldn't say that's IMPOSSIBLE. It's unlikely because she has a nurse/caretaker who comments on how she was doing. I think she just has a case of the very very very olds.

Right so I just finished the book and thought it was really really good.

There are two things I will say (just because I like to nitpick). The overall tone was great, really atmospheric. It was however a little dark for a Penguin story, for my taste. But only a little.

The other thing is that in Jason Aarons asylum issue, he did the same thing of ruining someones life but not physically hurting them. In the other issue I just felt like the things he did were a bit subtler and thus were less likely to attract attention. But again its to do with me not liking quite such a dark Penguin.

So overall a great issue, my comments are just taste related. Can't wait for the next one

I always liked the character for 23 years since i read the comics and watched the campy 60's show when they had reruns of it on my local Fox station where i use to live. Merideth was quality playing our beloved pinocchio nosed roundboy and i even had an action figure to him from the Super Powers toys.

Then when i saw Batman Returns, i found Burton's version of Penguin played nicely by Devito to be interesting if kind of an Elephant man wannabe yet i felt sorry for his character. Paul William's version was very good yet it's not the kind of voice i imagine for Penguin yet he still looks like the comic, Merideth and Devito Penguin combined.

I loved Paul Williams vocal performance. Elegant and ruthless.

DeVito never really felt like the Penguin to me. It was like an evil version of the Elephant Man in a top hat.

Personally TAS version was a mixture of Devito, Merideth and Comic Penguin don't you think? but he did got revamped for the WB he looked back to the normal Penguin look.

TAS version is classic comic book Penguin(pre-Iceburg Lounge era)in terms of personallity and origin.It's just happen that the series were released during Batman Returns time and studio forced the animators of using DeVitto's look.In my opinion,it worked like a charm.We had classic Penguin with a more dark look that fitted the noirish world of B:TAS.

That's right Nefarius it did worked like a charm and i believe in 1991 the show was being done and Timm probably saw some stills from Batman Returns thus he made a fusion of both comic and Devito Penguin and even did the same for Selina Kyle/Catwoman being blonde and all that.

To tell the truth,i wasn't so thrilled with blonde Catwoman.I prefer her with black hair.But,i liked that despite her blondeness,she looked more like a 30s femme fatale,rather than Pfeiffer's rip-off in appearence.

Well Nef, it's like i said in the Catwoman appreciation thread i find her sexy in any version especially the Pfeifer and Blonde TAS versions since i have a weakness for blondes especially brunettes.

I wonder what a redheaded Catwoman/Selina Kyle looks like?
