Default CBR: Way Forges Daken's "Empire"

We spoke with co-writer Daniel Way about his plans for "Daken: Dark Wolverine" which involve sending Daken to his father's old stomping grounds, the island nation of Madripoor in a bid to build his own criminal empire.

That scheme will bring Daken into conflict with Madripoor's established power players, including the crime lord and former revolutionary, Tyger Tiger. "I think Tyger Tiger is a great character in that she is a very affective crime boss because she's trying to maintain the status quo. She's basically a racketeer who runs a protection racket against bad guys,"
OMG. I hope Wolverine, Jubilee, and Psylocke guest star. I just might buy this in singles, if ever.

I really want to see Bloodscream vs. Daken. Especially if the former thinks he's getting Wolverine, and then learns that he's messing with a total sociopath, and gets caught off guard.

I feel bad because I like Way and Liu, but am I the only one who just has no interest or care for Daken? I just can't find anything redeeming about him that makes me want to collect a book. With other villains or anti-heroes or whatever in the past, I've been almost always able to find some likable trait, no matter how much of a jerk the character usually was. Every appearance I have of him (from Original Sin, to the Siege tie-ins, to appearances in Dark Avengers and related titles) fills me with total apathy for him.

Is this particular title any good? I've been reluctant to give it a go because of my past experiences with the character, but obviously people are enjoying him enough that he has his own title for several years.

The fact that he has no redeeming qualities is what keeps me interested. You keep thinking, "Well, maybe this time." Nope, still a bastard! Fooled again!

EDIT: I just read the article and I'm almost disappointed that Way was so forthcoming about what will happen in the future. People always complain about those Cup O' Joe things because not much is ever revealed, but I kind of like it that way. I'd rather be teased than told a punchline that's still 6 months away.

I love this title. I'm not a Way fan. I hated Wolverine: Origins. And hated Daken, until Liu came on board. She has made him his own character and joining Dark Avengers didn't hurt anything either. In fact up until that point I thought he was going to go the route of Wild Thing, or what that other daughter of Wolverine was called, meaning forgetable.

I NEVER thought I would be onboard with Daken, muchless pick up his solo title, but it is a fun/interesting read. (Due to Liu actually writing is and Way just helping with plots.) It reminds me of classic Wolverine stories with a new twists.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

That's the point. I don't want to see him appear in every arc.
I like Daken, but I don't care about his relationship with his father anymore.

Yes, Wolverine doesn't deserve anymore punishment from Way's typewriter.

This interview was boring. I assume that Way must be in charge of the next arc.

Wolverine isn't a total sociopath (at least in regards to Bloodscream) how, exactly?

Thanks, everyone, who answered my questions as to whether the book was any good or not. I may wind up getting the trade since I already get 75-80 titles a months as it is and am not looking to take on another just yet! lol

    But, thanks, everyone!

As much as I like Daken and his book, it was really stupid to tell the world that Daken's current plan will fail.
That was bad Mr. Way. (I'm not saying: Way to go - Epic Fail)
    Thank You for MILES MORALES!!!

Wolverine is MOSTLY a sociopath. He seems to want to get better.

Daken revels in being one, and shows no signs of remorse, ever.
