Marvel Comics has launched a new viral marketing campaign for "Age of X" in this week's new comics through use of a QR Code revealing an image of Beast being attacked by ant-mutant demonstrators.

Well, the Avengers in this verse and probably a team of xenophobic hardcore mutant killers, the only mutants who might be on the team would be Weapon X style ones.

Well, Carey had to do something shockingly different with/to him. Since in AoA, he was Dark Beast.

As fickle as comic fans are, if he would have done anything at all similar to the AoA version, he'd have people calling him hack.

Especially since the first previews turned up for this, people have been calling it a knockoff of AoA. Without even knowing the story.

You'll note they avoid the cat change whenever possible outside of the 616.

Because because Beast has always been APE like not CAT or "goat" 9___9 like. Most people can distinguish between animal types.

I guess in this universe, his secondary mutation (an idea that was so random and contradictory and really did not make a whole lot of sense given the histories of mutants in the 616 universe anyway) hadn't kicked in yet. We don't know exactly what years Age of X takes place in.

I'm curious as to the "hook" of the story. That is, how it ties into our universe. I imagine because it's IN two actual monthlies (Legacy and New Mutants), there has to be a reason why (much like when the monthlies were all replaced for AoA after the Legion Quest events). It seems like this is coming out of left field, but with Carey (based on his The Unwritten, Lucifer and Crossing Midnight), there's a plan.

And, might I add, he's a solid guy. I emailed him something on Facebook and he emailed back and was such an open and sincere guy. Kind of made me feel good considering I've got every issue of the 4 titles I've mentioned here that he's written, plus one of his prose novels! lol

just to be super clear i dont like beast cat mutation, but i have read somewhere that where gonna tell the story backwards. From Events of the future to the present or something like that.

So it will make sense to have a cat beast, but is completly right that not 616 stories has the ape beast that all of us like.

I think the story is a AoA without apocalypse in the picture.
