I just picked up the other book, DC Comics: Year By Year and it's awesome but I think this is the one I should have saved up for...

Judging by the dimensions on Amazon, that is one big honking book. I'm tempted to get it for Christmas, but I can't imagine spending that much on one book, let alone find the shelf-space for it. I guess I'll have to see it in person before making a decision one or the other. Looks fantastic from the images shown here, though.

I was definately up for buying this as the definite history etc but after looking through a copy at the comic shop it seems very light on text whilst having loads of great pictures, pretty standard for taschen books.

I still want it as a great keepsake but will wait for it to drop in price, which given the RRP I think it has to at some point.

Thankfully it comes in a box with a handle so carrying it home won't be a nightmare!

Big honking book doesn't seem to really capture the size of this thing. It makes the average human look like a hobbit. The price is pretty crazy but this is a special item, and supposedly Taschen publications tend to rise in value, so I decided to make it my Christmas gift to myself.

Just waiting for the perfect Barnes and Noble coupon to justify buying this book.

Unless it somehow appears at a Costco.

Oh man, what a great book! I have to get it! While most art books are huge, or coffee table size I wouldn't mind having this on my ipad, holding a 15+ pound book gets tiresome.

Yeah, it's gigantic. You'd have to keep it on a table most likely instead of a shelf. It really is a gorgeous book though. I still haven't found a place for it. I actually interview Levitz about it if you want to know more: http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/book-news/comics/article/45190-paul-levitz-puts-75-years-of-dc-comics-in-one-huge-book.html

Never have the words "i picked it up" meant so much.

Sounds interesting, with this size it would be quite an eye-catcher, but i guess it would also look out of place in my apartment, because there is no book with equal proportions and also no adequate place for it.

the only way i will get this is if i find it on special (massively discounted too) at a secondhand store or bookstore which sells remaindered stock. its just too freaking huge. might need to find a big strapping man to carry it for me too

The last Taschen book I bought was the Big Book of Breasts.

    And that was pretty good.
Banned once...and still pissed about it. Well, okay...more like annoyed about it.

yeah im not sure i would put it on a shelf. i used to have much smaller books and magazines stacked on shelves in a bookcase and even those proved too much for the shelves which tumbled down around me and this book is so big. but looks to be pretty nice on the inside.
