    Thumbs up

Hmm, the Kingdom Come Superman is such a compelling character. I get what Ross is saying about the book not needing sequels etc but I could easily understand the temptation to see him again. I wonder indeed if that is the last we will ever see of him? Still it was a super send off. There is something touching in the very normal way as Ross said life and time unfolded. It brought real humanity to the story.

I prefer the Kingdom Come Superman to the current Superman. I feel the current Superman in "Grounded" is an uninteresting Superman frozen in time. He's a relic that doesn't have many interesting stories left.

The Kingdom Come Superman is a character that has lived a full life and is wise. It would be interesting if there was an ongoing series written by Alex Ross where this version of Superman was sent back to the current DCU. He would learn about the events of Final Crisis, Blackest Night, War of the Superman, etc. and realize that it's a universe that needs him. With JMS' Superman walking the country, the Kingdom Come Superman can become a Green Lantern...or better yet...the White Lantern.

Yeah. It's not as if the "real" Superman, the awe-inspiring, mostly says the right thing, provides the right thing for people at the right times Superman, doesn't still exist. It just feels like in his own titles he's not the right guy. (For all of New Krypton's flaws, at least Superman was mostly-in-character).

I feel like we get the real Superman when he shows up in other titles and not his own. This week's JSA, for instance - he shows up and you feel this weird sense of deference even from the top veteran JSA guys, who have years more experience than Superman. Like they'd follow him without question too, despite his relative youth, and that he's the guy people need to see during a disaster.

I've been giving Grounded a go ... but I just realized now how much I dislike it. Quite intensely.

Love the KC Superman. Sad to see him go but inspiring to see his life and legacy. I guess you can only milk the cow for so long but I wouldn't mind seeing a little bit more of him somewhere down the line.

I presume he refers to the Third World gods - the ones who preceded Kirby's New Gods (the Fourth World).

And according to Kirby, the Third World gods died during Ragnarok........so I think you can guess who those folks were.
