I'm soooooo glad Marvel has supported Bendis the entire 10 years. The FACT is: Bendis = the best quality in comics scripting you can get. No arguing that. Instead of saying "Let's try a new flavor of writer" they decide to stick with him. You want a new flavor?, you can try a different comic. No one can follow Bendis on Ultimate Spider-Man. The tone is too too much in his style that no other writer will ever fit on this book.

He's now taken it in a completely original direction for the last 1+ year and I can't wait to read what's next. And the "Ultimate Spider-Man tv show?" Finally, a Spider-Man tv show done right! (Spectacular Spider-Man, while good, never matched the quality of any Ultimate Spider-Man comic. Hopefully this show will)

"What? Peter is dating Gwen? WTF?'" Bendis stated. "That's the best, and I'll never do the flashback. I know it drives people crazy, but I won't."

    Funny but still kinda sad.

Wait, Mark Brooks wasn't given the book after Bagley or Immonen because he's not a monthly artist? So how does Lafuente get it? He did 6 and had a fill in from Takahi Miyazawa
So...whose neck do I break first?

I don't think Mark can do two issues in a row, let alone 6. I can't remember the last time I saw Mark do more than 3 or 4 issues.

Lafuente got it because he was untested on a monthly series. They didn't know how he'd do. Just that Brooks (who I was hoping would replace Immonen) can't do a monthly series (obviously, neither can Lafuente). It's all right there in the article.

I think it's fantastic that Bendis still has such enthusiasm for working on the book, even after ten years, and that he still talks excitedly, seemingly, about the various ideas he has. USM really is the best book he does, and I'm glad he's still got a boatload of ideas and different things he wants to do.

I also think that as valuable as Bagley was to the book, the fact he was doing over twelve issues a year at times was really starting to show, at least before the Clone Saga. But as much as it stank to lose him from the book, I at least think they've brought on some really good talent since. Stuart Immonen did amazing work, and I've loved every issue of Lafuente's run. Pichelli also has some high standards, based on her work on Runaways.

Nevermind to another 150 issues, here's to 500.

After the Parker-Kitty Pryde Annual, I thought Mark Brooks was the logical successor to Bagley. He drew great facial expressions, which is important if Bendis is writing lame dialogue.

Can't do a monthly? Kick him under the bus why don't you? Nice reference for the Mark Brooks' resume, Mr. Bendis.

Hell, Bendis even chortles about how he was able to wipe out some dangling plot threads because of Loeb's crazy flood in Ultimatum, but didn't himself have to take heat for such a stupid way to reboot the line.

Man, I bet that Millar, Bendis and Loeb meeting was awkward.

"Ya messed up me characters, ya haggis-eating hoo-hah! I got Angelina and Brad reading me stuff, ya jellied eel-snortin" sheep dater!"

"But a flood would be so, so, geez what's the word...Bible-like? It would be that e-thing, that epoch...Brian, you know words. What say am I trying to?"

"Epic, Jeph. A flood would be epic. I like it. Let's do it. I'll even reference it by ignoring a thousand dangling plot lines in USM. So, Millar, I believe it's 2-1 in favor of saving the UU by drowning everybody."

"Eat me kippers' knickers, ya toffee-brained chuckwhoolies! I had dinner in the same building as Jaimie Pressley! I've got McMuffin, or McLovin' on me speed dial! Do you even know who I am? I'm pitchin' a book 'bout punk rockers wot witness a murder and hide in a cave that leads to King Arthur and is flippin' roun' table! Yooo know who wantsa first peek? Do the words De Niro ring a bell, ya Moorish bog bulbs!"

Fly on the wall stuff, man. Fly. On. The. Wall.

Maybe that Brooks can't even do six issues on a monthly basis, and would need a six months fill-in instead of a two-months one?

I think Dark Reign: Young Avengers did 5 issues monthly before a massive delay on the 6th

I'm a bit dissapointed that the stance on aging seems to keep it at a minimum pace, I get the high-school dynamic is the best place for Peter and company, but it means I'll never get a Spidey book, save for back issues of Spider-Girl. that really advances a character beyond a certain age.
