This was the best episode of the series so far .. probably because Kirkman wrote it .. but also .. the characters are developing .. the zombies are attacking .. and maybe because the actors are really starting to get the feel of their characters ..
2 big zombie thumbs up ..
it was good though that opening scene talking about fishing was BOOOOOOOORRRRRINNG
The opening scene was sappy, I'm glad the sister died. And when she did Laurie Holden was getting the blood all over?!!!! In the 2nd episode the characters were sure not to do that for fear of contamination!
Also, why didn't the can alarm go off when the zombies attacked? My guess is Merle! I'm betting on a big showdown.
She might've had other things on her mind, like her sister having been chewed on by zombies and dying right in front of her.
We saw them setting up some sting and cans, we don't know that they covered the entire perimeter with them. Also, why didn't the can alarm go off when the zombies attacked? My guess is Merle! I'm betting on a big showdown.

Very not bad. Nothing could better solidify Kirkman's absolute support of divergence from the comic than his writing an episode that strongly differed from what he's previously laid down. In the end, though, it all appears to be a question of cause and effect. The causes change but the effects remain the same (to wit: the attack on the camp, Amy's death, and so on).
Did I see Shane take a hearty chomp to the arm/neck? That almost seems like a cheat and immediately alters a core dynamic. Without spoiling things overly much, perhaps Merle will instead taste the wrath of a certain character, should he be fool enough to return (and whether or not he had a hand in the attack).
Shane? No.
I'm glad it's doing well. I'm sure it'll have good DVD sales, as well.
In last weeks episode the lone walker didn't set off any alarms either. That by itself was a warning that where they're camped is no longer safe. If one found them others were bound to as well.
Phew! That was close. Maybe it was Jim, or someone I haven't identified from the group.
Elementary. The fire and Glenn's brain-freeze with driving a whooping pony car up the hill, not to mention all the yelling, recently, couldn't have helped their cause.Originally Posted by the goddamn redvector
An apparently natural conclusion is that Merle had something to do with it, but the logistics don't bear it out. Even if he could have lured a bunch of walkers into the truck, rather than simply being swarmed, and somehow barricaded the cab to prevent being eaten from within, the engine and tire noise up the hill would have given him away now that the world is such a dead quiet place.

Sucks 200 character limit.
I'm glad that I didn't just imagine that this episode was...different than the rest. I happened to glance at the credits and saw that Kirkman was writing it and it sort of biased my perspective on the show. Don't get me wrong, I like Kirkman alright but I noticed that he has a particular style of writing that is different from the rest of the show.
I thought that maybe I was just being biased but hopefully that is the only episode he writes this season. Let me be clear, I'm not saying Kirkman is a bad writer, but some of the things that sometimes bother me in the comic were on display on that episode.
Still, I'm glad the ratings are still up.
A great show and the episodes continue to impress me.I am a fan of the comic and I am also a fan of this "spinoff."
I blinked when the writer credit was flashed and didn't know it was Kirkman until after the fact. No doubt such foreknowledge would have coloured my impression of the episode, though I can't say if for better or ill, so I'm just as glad that I missed it.
You've evoked my curiosity, however. What elements of the comic do you find bothersome and how were they translated to the episode script?![]()
