After such a long time waiting for 1948 I read this first issue with much anticipation. It didn't disappoint me at all. Great art, great story, I loved every bit of it. I keep on going back to these panels. It was long ago I didn't feel this happy about a comic book

Ha, I can't help it, I minored in film.

But it didn't ruin it or anything the issue was fantastic.

We have the first appearance of Hellboy smoking a cigarette! This is soo gonna be worth a lot someday. Quick, bag and board it!

What a great start to this series. So, I'm guessing that the spelling of "issn't" was intentional? An accent maybe? It appears twice with the same character.

I can't remember, but was it a line from the movie that stated that his growth was stunted by cigarettes or was it in a comic? This scene made me think of that.

Issue 2 is mesmerizing. The art is amazing. I love the story. I am oh so happy. Three issues to go and I'm already looking forward to a library edition.

Simon is bad ass, we get a fun shot at a character I don't think we've seen since Seed of Destruction (although his head is covered by a word balloon), and Max Fiumara's work is more impressive than ever. This series just got a lot more interesting.

It was amazing work, I loved that image of little Hellboy in the hat. Heck, I love the way he draws little Hellboy period, it's just really fun all around.
