Does look cool. I'm just a little annoyed that they're slow burning their way to the finale. After the 200th episode, and the revelation that he'd become Superman, I was hoping that we'd see more in the way of that sort of stuff. More Darkseid too. Instead, we're getting what appears to be yet another filler episode.

You'd think that, after 10 years, Smallville would have learned from genre shows like Buffy and balance these smaller moments with the more epic ones. Instead, Smallville, while great at times, tends to fill its seasons with "busy work" episodes - stuff that does the least possible to fill out either the characters or the larger arcs.

Post-200, Smallville has become a glacier again. You'd think that, with November upon us, they'd be milking that sweeps period instead of sitting on their thumbs.

I'm not knocking this ep or the screen caps. I just think that they're missing opportunities and rolling the pace back to where it was a couple of seasons back. We should be charging to the finale instead of carelessly ambling.

But maybe they plan on hitting a moment and it just being balls to the wall from that moment on, so the final 4-6 episodes may just be the most kick-ass Smallville we can imagine.

Does... does Slade have two eyes? o.O

Somewhere along the way I'd gotten the idea that Hogan was going to be playing Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke. Am I mistaken?

Kryptonsite confirms this. (They're almost always on the money, afaik.) Teasers don't tell us the whole truth. Besides, he'll no doubt be the Smallville version of Deathstroke. Smallville versions of familiar characters are like brand x cereals. Fruity Webbles, Captain Crunk, or Tricks

BTW, I'm not saying that nothing of importance will happen these episodes. I just don't think that we're in for any OMFG moments. Past behavior is the key to future behavior. Smallville's past is riddled with meandering. Stuff that, as fans, we're used to after 10 years, but still....

Why no picture of Mera?! GAH! That's okay, I guess waiting to see how hot she is makes the wait that much more exciting. I wonder if Col. Slade is going to lose one of his eyes and then almost become a Nick Fury type of character but for Checkmate. Does Checkmate need a King?

I'm all for seeing various DC characters on the show, but if this is the last season of Smallville I hope they find time to focus on the core characters of the show as well. We don't need a DC character in every single episode.
