Default CBR: 10 Comics Ready for Prime Time

With the success of AMC's adaptation of "The Walking Dead," it's likely more non-superhero series will make their way to the small screen. CBR's staff came up with a list of ten titles that deserve that treatment.

The concept for a Morning Glories television series sounds just like Tower Prep, a new show created by Paul Dini. I think there would be too many comparisons made. Though, you are right in that it would make a great TV series - since it practically already is one :)

I definitely agree that Y: The Last Man would make a terrific TV show. I'd prefer that over a movie.

I'd watch half of these (Scalped, Transmetropolitan, The Unwritten, Y: The Last Man, 100 Bullets). Also looking forward to the potential Powers series, but to those five, I would personally add

    DMZ
    Immortal Iron Fist
    Rasl
    Sweet Tooth
    Ex Machina
This just in: Chris Sprouse has pulled out of Orson Scott Card.

Most of these books would suck on TV except 100 bullets.

I adore Casanova. Really. Favorite comic. ...but I don't know that it'd stick with TV audiences. Certainly not the second arc.

Scalped, yeah, HBO, and I'd watch it. You'd never better the comic, so the question begs, why bother? We could use better TV was the only conclusion I could come to.

We always thought True Story, Swear to God would make a fun series.

Wow, I just love dudes like you -- drive by commentators who'll say something sucks without even stating why.

But yes, 100 Bullets would be an interesting series, as long as it didn't try to stick to a 100 episodes concept.

Scalped needs to happen as a TV series. I second the thoughts on Ex Machina, too.

I've always said "Preacher" would be awesome as an HBO or Showtime series, especially considering what they get away with on "Tru Blood", "Californication", "Hung", "Weeds" and "Dexter". It's not too dissimilar and the format would be perfect.

Why? Is a disenting opinion not allowed?

Put any of these as shows in prime time and I garauntee they get cancelled before the initial run of episodes is up.

Self-defending questions loaded with attempts to trigger guilt!

Mock self-importance and horrible attempt at convincing people that you understand the industry while making broad, sweeping generalizations!

Weird, I just posted a similar topic on my blog covering the same thing but with added suggestions of showrunners!
Even picked some of the same comics (though I guess stuff like 100 Bullets is obvious)

Like the choice of Casanova, figured that might make for better movies than TV show, though it's so in love with being a comic, maybe it should stay that way!
