And when does he honor his commitments to finishing "The Twelve" a freaking mini-series that hasn't had an issue out in almost two years? Has The Brave and Bold been canceled? It's been at least three months since the last issue of it has come out. I'm tired of seeing all of this promotional hubaloo of him taking on new projects when he has projects he hasn't delivered on.
I have to agree with this. I'm a huge JMS fan and I'm so disappointed that he's leaving Superman. After all his talk about being honored and fulfilling a life-long dream to finally write Superman, and then seeing him simply drop out after just a handful of issues is confusing to me.
I understand his need to write a cohesive story with a beginning, middle, and end, but I think he could have done that just as easily on the core Superman title as he can on Earth One. This could have been a defining run on an ongoing series that has been floundering for too long now, but alas, that's not going to happen.
Whatever happens, I wish JMS the best of luck, but this is very disappointing, indeed
JMS = Unreliable. I'll never buy another project by him until the Twelve is finished. He's become a joke. Be an adult and don't commit to something you can't finish.
I like his Earth One book, but I'm buying it more because it's a good Superman book; not out of any loyalty to Straczynski.
Didio accomplished 2 things with me as a customer: he lost my trust and my support--and he convinced me that JMS is far from the victim of editorial whim that he keeps claiming he is. Marvel was wise to let this flake go.
As for Superman and Wonder Woman's monthlies, it looks like WW will survive this debacle since she's got Phil Hester on the book. But I don't know Roberson at all and am not wasting my time & money on someone who is an unknown quantity that got stuck with cleaning up Straczynski's mess.
Superman's off my pull list until they put someone I know and love on the book.
I like his writing and I like his ability to lend clarity and a strong iconic feel to his stories, but I most certainly do not like his lack of follow-through, which unfortunately seems to be developing into one of his trademarks. I like a well told story, but part of a well told story is a beginning, a middle AND and ending.
I'm a Superman fan first and a JMS fan a distant second. However, I understand your feelings completely. It does feel like a slap in the face to those who've been buying the main Superman book. I too know NOTHING of this Roberson fellow, but I can't help but feel he's a temporary replacement that'll finish out this storyline. A storyline that now just seems pretty meaningless.
Wow.

Big JMS fan. But this is very dissapointing. I will be dropping Superman even though Chirs Roberson is an excellent writer. I was promised JMS and when I put Superman on the pull list, thats who I expect to be writing it. I too thought this could be a defining run because of his love for the character. Guess not. I think I'll try Superboy now instead.
Exactly. This was all about Straczysnki executing his vision for the monthly Superman book. Someone copying from Joe's notes that he's now too busy to write himself? And then he admits that he really didn't want to do monthly books anymore?
The word "rip-off" is an understatement. To say I feel cheated doesn't quite cover it, either.
I suddenly feel much more receptive to Quesada's version of the events that occurred during the making of "One More Day." At the very least, JMS is earning himself a very bad reputation with comics fans as an unreliable flake. And if he doesn't see that it is very much a consequence of his own choices, he's in serious denial.
And honestly, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if in the middle of the Earth One sequel JMS abandoned that project, too. No, I am not joking.
This is really disappointing though. DC finally seemed to be hitting some form of a stride with their line recently, and now they have to go and gut two of their monthlies. And the two in particular are two-thirds of the trinity, books that sucked/did poorly for a while. After all the huss and fuss of fixing both characters and putting a AAA guy on them, only for this to happen.
Like Flashpoint said, to just completely abandon all the storylines and work... eh, it sucks.

What? This is just crazy! JMS leaving a book before it's finished? Say it ain't so! Unheard of!
