Default CBR: Liefeld Resurrects "Zombie Jesus"

The "Deadpool" co-creator's latest original series takes the zombie genre to truly biblical proportions. Rob Liefeld spoke with CBR about "Zombie Jesus" and other webcomics he's planning to publish in the near future.

I think many of us can agree on one thing here, and that one thing is LOL.

It's a pretty interesting idea, considering it's based on something truly in the bible.

    "I love drawing horses..."

Of course he does. They don't have feet.

I'm happy to see Liefeld manifest such enthusiasm.

"Swap out Nazis for Romans and the grail and the ark for Christ's actual body, and it's a biblical 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.'"

I think I'm missing something here.... did that just not make any sense whatsoever?

nope - you didn't miss anything. it's clear that Liefeld has a child's understanding of the New Testament

Yeah, I believe after Jesus was executed there were spirits of the dead seen in Jerusalem but not physical bodies of the dead. There sure seems to be a growing # of zombie comic material these days. I think what I like about the zombie books is thinking about what I would do in a zombie apocolypse.
Pull List: Transformers, Green Lantern, Batman Inc, Justice League, East of West and Deathmatch.

Gotta say, the artwork on those stories doesn't suck in the usual Liefeld way. Either he actually takes his time with his own stuff (as opposed to the stuff he does for hire, like his awful Onslaught covers from the upcoming mini), or else he's got some quality people doing touchup work for him.

I'm trying not to be, and it does seem like a fun idea, but in terms of art if this quote frim Liefeld doesn't make a believer question their faith, what will...

"I believe in God. I believe he loves all of us, I believe he gave me talents"
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...

Zombies in the Bible? That's a real loose interpretation. Three days after Christ's death there was an earthquake, it's far more likely this passage is describing unearthed graves. As for them appearing in the city, news travels fast, and people were far more reliant on superstitions. The bodies were more than likely taken back as a precautionary measure where they received another burial ritual to "ensure" their death and provide the people within the city with peace of mind. As for the idea of this comic, I'll quote the Bible, "Jesus wept."

This comic needs Dio playing in the background while it's read.

Despite what all the sh!ts that can be said upon Rob Liefeld, he is still here, doing his job (slowly - that kills me!! ) and if he has found faith in God, why not?

And if he wants to produce free-to-read webcomics on any ideas, why not?
I only hope that these stories will also be on printed form too!!

To finish, I prefer a Rob Liefeld as he is now and was during the Image area: enjoyed, simple, easy to understand and to approach (else we like or not is art - I love his art), than a McFarlanne who gets the big head with all these projects and toys, and who had already stopped the Image United mini-series due to his ego.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: I draw my characters feet like Rob and no one had disliked them...
