    Default CBR: Pop! - Nov 9, 2010

In today's POP!, George looks at a project that never was but still could be in the late, great Dave Stevens' proposed Rocketeer/Superman crossover.

Looks like 100% pure fun. Which means I would be all over it and it will never get published.

I will personally buy several copies of each issue, plus the trade when it's done. I'm absolutely serious. Please DC and IDW, make this happen. Is there anybody we can directly pester...daily...at the respective companies to make sure the right people know this exists?

    Oooooh yes. I want.
Anyone who thinks DC is bringing back the Silver Age doesn't know what the Silver Age is.

There is no such word as "persay," it's per se, two words, from the Latin.

That reads like a winner to me. I would certainly buy this.

    Angry D.C. stands for NOOB!!!!

I lack the eloquence and sophisticated to express my reaction to D.C.'s rejection of the is dream project correctly.
    THAT'S SO STUPID!!!!!!
I can't believe they wouldn't see this through!
Did they think Dave would take to long? He said he's bring in friends to help get it done on time!
I guess I'm really just reacting to Dave passing away so young.
I remember seeing him at Dragon-Con and being to shy to approach him, thinking I'll just see him next time.
    It never did happen.
But I'd buy this in a heartbeat!!!!
    Maybe, just maybe.

This would rock the Casbah. The only thing that could make my wallet empty all over it is if it were drawn by Steve Rude.

Definitely a 'instant pull' for me.

About halfway through the article, I thought of the exact same person. It would be a great companion piece to the Superman/Hulk one-shot he drew a few years back.

Because the one thing that was really lacking in The Rocketeer, and that was a man who could fly without a jetpack, thereby invalidating the entire premise.

One might add that the second half of The Rocketeer is already running on fumes, which one can tell because of the shoehorning of The Shadow into it.

    Red face

Sandy Plunkett would be perfect for this...and even an assist from Mark Schultz wouldn't be too bad either.

Great choices, they really are the right fit for this idea considering their friendship with Dave.

But the whole premise of the Rocketeer was invoking that whole era of pulp character's and pop culture.
After all Doc Savage figured in the creation of the rocket itself.
So The Shadow, Superman, Orson Welles, Bettie Page and the like are in line with premise.
